The seven-member South Korean group, BTS recorded over 98 million views on YouTube within 24 hours of the video’s release at 1 p.m U.S time 21 August on the video-streaming platform, according to Chart Data, stated by Wall Street Journal.

That figure puts it above the current record holder, K-pop group Blackpink, whose music video “How You Like That” reached 86.3 million views within 24 hours of its release in June. Alphabet Inc.’s Google, which owns YouTube, said it would be updating results on the streaming platform’s YouTube Records page at a later time.

BTS is no stranger to YouTube’s record charts. Before the release of “Dynamite” on Friday, the pop group already had four videos on YouTube’s list of the top 10 all-time 24-hour music debuts.

For the first time since the group's debut, “Dynamites” lyrics are entirely in English

According to Insider, at the virtual press conference ahead of the music video premiere, BTS's leader RM introduced the new song as a "new challenge" for BTS. For the first time since the group's debut, its lyrics are entirely in English. It was also dropped in a friendly timezone to fans in the US.

More importantly, "Dynamite" clearly signals a new territory for BTS's musical endeavors. Describing "Dynamite" as a "feel-good song," V told the press that the song "felt new and a different" from what the group's tried before.

"Everyone in the world is going through tough times," Jimin told reporters. "Dynamite is a song that can lift anyone's spirits."

It’s the third time this year BTS has cracked the top 10 for first-day music video views

Forbes said that it’s the third time this year BTS has cracked the top 10 for first-day music video views, with their song “ON” seeing 43.8 million views in the first 24 hours, and enjoyed 1.54 million concurrent watchers when it was posted, along with another video to promote the song, “'ON' Kinetic Manifesto Film : Come Prima.”

With “Dyanamite,” seven of the YouTube music videos in the top 10 for the most first-day views are by Korean artists, cementing the major role Korean pop music plays on YouTube and illustrating how dedicated their fans are.

It’s been reported that BTS are targeting a first-placed spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with” Dynamite”, the Independent stated

From BTS' 'Dynamite' Single to Mariah Carey & Lauryn Hill's Collab and More

While the K-pop boy band contributes to the disco-pop revival, Mariah Carey throws it back to '90s R&B by dusting off her previously written, yet newly recorded collaboration with Lauryn Hill "Save The Day." Off her B-sides album The Rarities, "Save The Day" samples Ms. Hill's vocals from the Fugees hit "Killing Me Softly" for an immaculate instant classic.

Speaking of powerhouse collabs, Pharell Williams teams up with Jay-Z for "Entrepreneur," which was released as part of a TIME cover package titled The New American Revolution and focuses on how Black business owners, from Tyler, the Creator to Issa Rae, who make cameos in the celebratory music video, can help erode systemic racism.
