Given the fact that Covid-19 pandemic situation is still unpredictable in many provinces/cities across the country, on Dec. 1, a planning meeting and training on screening vision was organized by Helen Keller International Vietnam, in collaboration with Hoa Binh Provincial Disease Control Center, at Muong Khen primary school in Tan Lac district.

The meeting was attended by representatives from Hoa Binh Provincial Police, Department of Education and Training, Education and Training Office, Principals, school health workers and teachers of 15 primary and secondary schools in the district.

With the financial support from Alcon, the ChildSight program aims to enhance the quality of school eye care in Kim Boi and Tan Lac Districts, Hoa Binh Province.

Approximately 20,000 students from the project schools will be screened. Out of which, nearly 1,000 students will be provided with subsidized glasses.

At the end of the meeting, the training course on vision screening for school health workers and teachers of 15 primary and secondary schools in Tan Lac district was directly guided by the eye care team of Hoa Binh CDC.

Through providing knowledge about eye care and hands-on training, all trainees are equipped with the foundation and skills for students' vision screening.

With this beginning, the project promises to bring many positive results in school eye health care activities in Hoa Binh province in the near future.

It is expected that also in this December, the second planning meeting and training on vision screening will be held in Kim Boi district with the participation of representatives of 15 primary and secondary schools in the district.

World Vision Vietnam cooperated with the Red Cross Society of Minh Long District and related parties to distribute food to people in the area.

Last week, World Vision Vietnam cooperated with the Red Cross Society of Minh Long District (Quang Ngai Province) and related parties to distribute food to people in the area.

With a total value of nearly US$ 10,000, the support package included fresh milk for malnourished children over two years old, and 10.400 kg of rice for 1,040 households affected by the pandemic.

This activity was part of World Vision Vietnam's Covid-19 National Response and Recovery Program.

Up to now, more than US$ 2,894,152 has been disbursed to repair the damages caused by the pandemic on people's lives in World Vision Vietnam's project sites nationwide.

Child sponsorship is one of World Vision's highlight programs. Recently, to raise the awareness of the community and beneficiaries about World Vision in general and the Child Sponsorship Program in particular, World Vision Vietnam has organized a series of "Let's learn about sponsoring together" events in Son Tra district, Da Nang city.

Attending the events were nearly 700 registered and vulnerable children from three wards.

Here, children learn about the Sponsorship Program through exciting activities such as painting and quizzes. Such events likeare an opportunity for children to have fun and interact with each other after an extended home quarantine due to the pandemic.

The Sponsorship Program has been implemented by World Vision Vietnam in Son Tra since 2015 with an initial 500 children. By the end of September 2021, this number has reached 3,433 children.

Through the Program, disadvantaged children are connected with sponsors, receive essential support to maintain their studies, and are motivated to make continuous efforts towards a better future.

The Bretagne-Vietnam Association donates bicycles to 20 poor students in Quang Vinh Commune, Quang Dien District.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province has just approved the receipt of non-project aid, worth VND 200 million, supporting elementary school students in A Luoi District and vocationally disabled children in Thua Thien Hue funded by the Bretagne-Vietnam Association.

Accordingly, in order to contribute to supporting primary school students in A Luoi District and people with disabilities in Thua Thien Hue to have better conditions for learning and personal activities, the Bretagne Association – Vietnam will support VND 150 million to equip 833 sets of warm clothes for students studying at five primary schools in A Luoi district.

At the same time, VND 50 million will be used to purchase materials to aid disadvantaged children in difficult circumstances who are studying and staying at the provincial Vocational Training and Employment Center for the Disabled.
