An event named "Meet Vietnam - Land of Opportunity" was held at the Business Connect Center, World EXPO Dubai, UAE on Dec. 30, 2021, in the framework of Vietnam National Day at EXPO Dubai 2020.

The event was chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Vietnam Embassy to UAE, and the Vietnam Trade Office in Dubai.

In his opening remark, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong congratulated the UAE on the success of the first EXPO 2020 exhibition held in the Middle East, which coincident with UAE's 50th anniversary of country construction.

According to Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong, EXPO is one of the world's most expected global events, the largest forum, and the best opportunity for countries to connect and cooperate for a prosperous future. The event is also a great opportunity for Vietnam to access UAE and Middle East markets, as well as seek cooperation opportunities with other international partners.

The Covid-19 pandemic reminds humankind of the need for closer cooperation. Vietnam was ready to open its door to cooperation and investment opportunities with all foreign countries, said the deputy minister.

Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong said: "The trade turnover between Vietnam and the UAE reaches about USD 6 billion, which is a very promising figure. The number will increase through close cooperation in the future. Expo 2020 Dubai is a great opportunity to demonstrate that Vietnam is a strong investment destination. The country has some of the best infrastructures, while the government has adjusted its laws and policies on trade to create a favorable environment for foreign investors”.

President & CEO of Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry Hamad Buamim responded to Ta Quang Dong's speech that UAE is the gateway connecting Vietnamese businesses to the Middle East and Africa region. Dubai and other emirates also expect Vietnam to lead Southeast Asian countries in opening trade connections with enterprises of the UAE and the Middle East region.

He believed that the event would be a great networking opportunity for Vietnamese and UAE businesses. It provides the most important, necessary, and up-to-date information on Vietnamese business, service, tourism situations and investment policies for Dubai businesses in particular and international enterprises in general so that they can together overcome the pandemic. Dubai is fully committed to supporting Vietnam in general and the Vietnamese business community in particular in promoting and connecting business, trade, investment, and tourism between the two sides.

The representatives of Vietnamese agencies and enterprises in the event introduced the country's policies, investment, cooperation, business, trade, tourism, and services potentials, providing the necessary information according to the interest of UAE and international partners.

After the plenary session, an exciting and frank trading session was held to fuel enterprises between Vietnam and other countries such as UAE, India, Sri Landka to discuss and seek opportunities.
