Vietnam and India have a long-lasting traditional friendship. Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 1972, the Vietnam - India traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation, whose foundation was laid by President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Neru, has been continuously nurtured and promoted by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.

India actively supported Vietnam in the struggles for national independence and unification in the past, as well as in the current cause of renewal and economic development. The two countries established the strategic partnership in 2007. In September 2016, the bilateral relationship was upgraded to the comprehensive strategic partnership, reflecting the deep and effective development of the relations between India and Vietnam.

In oder to celebrate the third anniversary of establishment of Vietnam – India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, a series of events in November, 2019 will be held in India.

According to Vietnamese Embassy in India, there are 30 events promoting trade, investment, tourism, seminar activities, cultural-friendship exchanges, book launches, etc. taking place in 5 states of India. Officials and representatives from ministries, industries, businesses, scholars of India and Vietnam will attend these events.

In addition, the visits of leaders of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam this month also contribute to the promotion of political and security defense, trade and investment relations.

The Indian Airlines - Indigo launched a direct flight in October 2019 and Vietnam's Vietjet Airlines will open in December 2019 will give a special boost to investment, trade and tourism between the two countries./.
