Exhibition Promotes the Values of Vietnamese Sea and Islands

The exhibition "Vietnam's seas and islands" at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (HCMC) will welcome visitors until the end of March 20.

On March 14, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (HCMC) opened the exhibition "Vietnam's seas and islands".

On the special occasion of the Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2022, the University contributes to promote, educate and inform the public about the national sea and islands.

The exhibition took place at the executive building of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU HCMC) - Thu Duc campus.

The exhibition has a rich contents of display maps and documents with 5 main elements: bibliographies, manuscripts, ancient maps of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa; Hoang Sa and Truong Sa on Western maps; Map of China without Hoang Sa and Truong Sa; Hoang Sa and Truong Sa during the French colonial period and before 1975; images of Vietnam's sea and islands from 1975 to present.

There are also artifacts and models of island landmarks; boat models, fishing gear at sea; products of the sea.

This exhibition features also models of 7 Vietnamese navy ships through historical periods, Tay Son bamboo boat model and basket boat model. This is a good opportunity for history lovers, scholars, and visitors to study these navy ships in a closer perspective.

More, there are a series of documents, books, photos, and other documentary videos related to the content of Vietnam's seas and islands.

Visitors also do not want to miss out on a showing of documentaries and films about sea and islands such as: Border of islands; Vietnamese sea village; History of Ho Chi Minh Road at sea; Vietnam's sea and islands - the origin.

The exhibition provides young generations of Vietnamese with the historical records and documents on the fight and protection of seas and islands by previous generations. Hence, they can learn to value national resources and landscapes through the exhibition.

In the opening day, many people were spot at the venue, eager to learn about the history of Vietnam seas and islands as well as generations of island inhabitants.

The program also highlights the strong will and spirit of Vietnamese people in protection of the country’s sovereignty of the Trường Sa and Hoàng Sa archipelagoes, which Việt Nam has continuously exercised and managed from the 17th to 19th century and until today.

It was created to help Vietnamese people, particularly youth, learn more about the country’s history and culture.

Now more and more people have also shown increasing interest in the livelihood of seas and lands. History lessons in the visual displays of the exhibition have been a great support to show revitalized and well-preserve historical events to modern audiences thanks to the collectors and exhibitors' passion and creativity.
