This “Halong Bay on land” in Hanoi offers various recreational services such as fishing, kayaking, cycling, boat rides, photo opportunities with sunflowers, or simply enjoying the extremely comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.
Spanning around 850ha in the territory of five communes of My Duc, the beautiful scenery is the combination of the sky, water, and towering limestone mountains, somewhat similar to that of UNESCO World Heritage Site Ha Long Bay, in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
There are unique islands in the lake with strange names, named after their shapes, such as Su Tu (“Lion”) Island, Voi Phuc (“Kneeling Elephant”) Mountain, and Hoa Qua Son (“Fruit”) Mountain, one of the biggest mountains around the lake.

Da Bac has an average elevation of roughly 500m, which is not particularly high, yet the climate is nevertheless relatively cool due to its proximity to the Hoa Binh lake bed area. This location is ideal for cooling off on hot days in the north.
Mount Ham Lon
Mount Ham Lon, with its peak at 462m above sea level, is part of the Solo Range, often dubbed as the “roof of the capital.” It has always been one of the most beloved camping spots near Hanoi. The scenery here is incredibly close to pristine nature, with a 40km adventurous route ideal for backpackers. Visitors can camp at the mountain peak or at Lake Nui Bau, admiring the fascinating hills of sim flowers. There is also an eco-tourism area called Ban Rom, about 4km away, offering unique experiences.

Note that tourism development at the summit of Mount Ham Lon is still limited, so tourists will need to bring all necessary equipment for their trip. Moreover, the journey to the summit is quite challenging, so they should carefully consider it when choosing this camping location. At the mountain peak, temperatures drop significantly at night, so be sure to bring warm clothes and a thin blanket to avoid catching a cold.
