Hang Kia Pa Co – Mai Chau Hoa Binh

Hang Kia and Pa Co are the only two highland communes in Hoa Binh with residents of the Mong ethnic group. With an altitude of more than 1,000m above sea level, Hang Kia-Pa Co is often covered with clouds all year round, bringing a comfortable atmosphere even on hot summer days.

Recently, residents have planted flowers and built many supporting infrastructures, creating conditions for tourists to watch the sea of clouds and take beautiful photos. The ideal time to hunt clouds is from 5 am to 9 am. When climbing to the cloud hunting spots, tourists can admire the sea of floating white clouds, enjoy the fresh air, and immerse themselves in the tranquility.

Not only is there the opportunity to hunt clouds, but Hang Kia-Pa Co also makes people fall in love with its poetic beauty. Unlike other famous cloud hunting spots, this area is quite peaceful with few tourists, creating favorable conditions for them to enjoy taking gorgeous photos and relaxing with their families.

Lung Van – Tan Lac

Lung Van known as the Cloud Valley in the Tan Lac district looks like a wonderland amidst clouds.

Considered as the roof of Muong Bi – one of the four major and the most ancient cultural cradles of the Muong ethnics in Hoa Binh Province, Lung Van is famous for its majestic natural scenery and the unique culture of the Muong people.

Located at an altitude of 1,200m above sea level, Lung Van was once a peaceful village that was then destroyed by a devastating flood and no one survived after the flood except for a couple who was saved by being stuck in a giant tree, called Bi.

According to the “Land and Water” epic of the Muong ethnic people in Hoa Binh, the tree had deep roots in 9 rivers and ten mountains so it was not swept away. Having no place to live, the couple built a tent under the tree, and they reclaimed new land for farming, tamed wild animals for raising, made containers to get water, and then established a hamlet and named it after the tree to show their gratitude to the tree that saved their lives.

Lung Van is very far from the main road and surrounded by deep green mountains. Therefore, It is still unfamiliar to many people. Lung Van has still kept intact many traditional cultural and architectural features. For example, tortoise-shaped roofs and Muong women’s dresses which are black and decorated with colorful patterns. Today, although their dresses are made shorter, and suitable for working, they retain all the delicate patterns.

Lung Van has many people who are still healthy though they are already 100 years old. People from 90 to 100 years old still work to help their children and grandchildren. Therefore, this land is related to many fairy tales and is called the land of longevity. People believe that the water from streams, the good and simple lifestyle, and the pure atmosphere bring the locals longevity.

Thung Khe Pass

White Rock Pass, also known as Thung Khe Pass, is a popular tourist destination in Mai Chau - Hoa Binh. In this area, tourists will experience a wonderful natural space with the image of Mai Chau covered in silver mist and limestone rocks, creating a poetic scenery of Northern land.

Thung Khe Pass (or Da Trang Pass) is situated between Mai Chau and Moc Chau, part of National Road 6 in Hoa Binh province. With a height of over 1,000 meters above sea level, standing at the summit of this pass allows you to admire the panoramic beauty of Mai Chau below - a picturesque landscape of tranquility.

Arriving at Thung Khe pass, travelers cannot help but be impressed by the majestic mountain roads surrounded by fresh green hues of grass and foliage. Sometimes, the thick blankets of mist that enveloped the past create a mystical atmosphere, giving visitors the sensation of stepping into a fairyland.

Mai Chau Flagpole

Mai Chau flagpole is about 60km northwest of Hoa Binh city center. This is the ideal check-in point for many backpackers on their journey to the beautiful Mai Chau Valley.

With traditional cultural and unique features of the Northwest market, the Mai Chau local market has just been reopened in Mai Chau town. The market here sells a full range of specialties, and handicrafts to meet the needs of exchanges, learn about indigenous culture, and contribute to the development of Mai Chau Valley tourism.

Ba Khan

Ba Khan is the name of a commune in Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province, just 100km from Hanoi. Tourists traveling through Hoa Binh Thung Khe will find a Ba Khan quietly engulfed in the virtual mist sea like a strange land. Ba Khan includes three hamlets: Khan Ha, Khan Ho, and Khan Thuong, along the Da River. Ba Khan is like “Ha Long on land” with its charming scenery, monumental mountains, and hills.

The road to Ba Khan is now well-poured concrete, serving tourists in Hoa Binh. However, the natural beauty of the northern mountains is still intact. On the road to the Ba Khan valley, one side is the green mountains and the other is the quiet water of Da River hidden in the fog, all make up the multi-color paintings, and fragrant grassland, soothing the weariness in the heart of travelers.
