The dishes are prepared by Hungarian chef Csaba Szabo. Quality ingredients, many of which are imported directly from Hungary, are used to bring an authentic Hungarian taste to food lovers in Vietnam.

The Hungarian culinary space is open from 6 pm - 9 pm, from Monday to Sunday every week.

Tran Thu Ha, a Hanoi diner, said: "This is the first time I have had Chicken Paprikash. The sauce has a unique flavor. It has the taste of chili but not as spice and pungent as Vietnamese chili. The noodles are chewy, crunchy, and delicious."

Talking to the press at the launching ceremony of the Hungarian culinary space, Hungarian Ambassador to Vietnam Baloghdi Tibor said: "The Hungarian culinary space in Hanoi reminds me of a famous restaurant in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, which is also named "The Canteen." From the decoration to the atmosphere, everything made me feel like home. This is the first Hungarian restaurant in Hanoi serving Hungarian dishes prepared by a Hungarian chef. All five dishes on the menu are familiar to Hungarians. Children and adults love those dishes and enjoy them at home every day.

Hanoi is a booming city with diverse selections of cuisine, from Asian to European. However, I often miss the Hungarian taste. The opening event of the Hungarian culinary space in Hanoi on Hungary's National Day, March 15, is like a dream come true. I hope Vietnamese customers and Hungarians in Hanoi can come to taste the Hungarian cuisine and culture."

The Canteen Cafe & Bistro is established by Nguyen Thi Van Anh, an overseas Vietnamese in Hungary. She said: "An unforgettable memory of my 10 years of living in Hungary is having a Hungarian family cook delicious dishes for me. When I return to Vietnam, I want to introduce Hungarian cuisine to Vietnamese people, and at the same time build a space for Hungarians in Vietnam to come and share their feelings when they feel homesick."
