President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his spouse, and a high-ranking delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy and had a meeting with representatives of the Vietnamese community in the country on November 17 night, VNA reported.

At the meeting, the President noted that his official visit to Thailand has been a success, with five important documents signed on this occasion.

Phuc expressed his hope that the Vietnamese in Thailand will continue their solidarity and mutual support to contribute to both nations, observe local law, and preserve the Vietnamese culture, especially their mother tongue.

The leader said the two governments have agreed to establish centers for Thai and Vietnamese languages.

Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh said Vietnamese people in Thailand have actively contributed to the homeland, especially during the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and the settlement of natural disaster consequences in the central region.

The diplomat conveyed proposals of the overseas Vietnamese in order to improve the position of Thai people of Vietnamese origin.

Ambassador Thanh also said that currently, overseas Vietnamese in Udon Thani are promoting to establishment of a Vietnam Town. Thanks to the consent and support of the Udon Thani government, the world's first Vietnam Town will soon be opened.

The Ambassador hopes to receive attention and direction from the Party, State, and Government for this project, The world and Vietnam Magazine reported.

Nguyen Ngoc Thin, president of the general association of Vietnamese in Thailand, called on the Vietnamese government to pay more attention to launching Vietnamese language courses and work to enhance educational cooperation between the two countries.

Thin informed that Vietnamese cuisine is delicious and cheap, so it is popular with Thai people.

“The Thai government and people in Udon Thani are very responsive to this plan and if successful, this will be a typical model to be replicated in many provinces of Thailand, helping overseas Vietnamese have more opportunities to do business and business. business. According to the plan, by the end of this year, the plan to build Vietnam Town will be completed," said Thin.

In addition to Unthon Thani, Thin said, many provinces in Thailand are also planning to develop night markets for Vietnamese cuisine.

After listening to the recommendations of the embassy and Vietnamese community, the President highly appreciated the results of the Embassy in recent years, and at the same time, thanked the enthusiastic contributions of the overseas Vietnamese people to the country, especially during the epidemic. Thereby, once again, President Phuc reiterated the spirit of solidarity and sharing, especially in the difficulties of the Vietnamese.

Wishing that overseas Vietnamese families would pay attention, and encourage their children to study in order to have a class of Vietnamese talents in Thailand, President Phuc emphasized, the Vietnamese community needs to encourage their children to study to preserve the mother tongue language.

Regarding the "Vietnam Town" project being promoted in Udon Thani province and launched in the near future, after hearing the recommendations, the President asked Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son to study more and report back.
