Football Matches Held to Celebrate Year of Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Solidarity
On the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2022) and the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries (July 18, 1977- On July 18, 2022), Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Sports, Laos Private Education Association, Vietnamese Embassy in Laos held a friendly football tournament in Vientiane on August 19.

Attending were 6 teams representing the following agencies: Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos; Vietnam Business Association to cooperate and invest in Laos; former Lao students in Vietnam; Central Association of Lao Private Education; Vientiane Department of Education and Sports; and the Vientiane Capital Private Education Association.
After the opening ceremony, with the enthusiastic cheers of hundreds of spectators who were officials and people of the two countries, the 6 football teams were divided into 3 pairs to enter the competition. The matches were held in an exciting atmosphere, imbued with the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

Phouth Simmalavong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Education and Sports of Laos a speech at the closing ceremony and emphasized that this is one of the practical and essential activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the establishment of diplomatic relations and 45 years of the signing of the Laos-Vietnam Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation.
He also expressed his belief that the solidarity, attachment, and friendship shown in the football matches on August 19 will contribute to the strengthening and further development of the relationship between Laos and Vietnam.
He also wishes that the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam will continue to bear fruit.

In his speech at the event, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos - Nguyen Ba Hung - highly appreciated the practical and meaningful activities organized by Laos to celebrate the Year of Friendship and Solidarity between Vietnam, Laos, and Laos. -Vietnam 2022.
He congratulated the players, although many are not young, all of them have given their all to give the audience great matches, in the spirit of solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
In addition, he affirmed that all 6 teams that participated in the competition had won, emphasizing that this was a victory of passion, friendship, and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
The Ambassador also expressed his wish that the echoes of these friendly matches would become good memories for each player, positively contributing to consolidating and strengthening the ever-growing and effective Vietnam-Laos relationship.
