Friendship Exchange Program to Commemorate Vietnam-India Diplomatic Relations

On June 28, a Friendship Exchange Program was organized by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam-India Friendship Association in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Hanoi to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - India diplomatic relations (January 7, 1972 - January 7, 2022).

Attending the exchange program were representatives of departments and agencies of Hanoi; representatives of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations; members of the Vietnam-India Friendship Association in Hanoi, Friendship Associations and member organizations of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations.

At the exchange program, Tran Thi Phuong, Standing Vice President of the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, affirmed that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and India originated from the interference of culture, religion, and trade between people of the two sides.

Both countries share common values ​​of patriotism and peacemaking and are more closely linked by the idea of fighting for national liberation. This close relationship has been laid the foundation by President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, then cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.

Notably, since the establishment of the strategic partnership in 2007 and upgrading to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016, cooperation between the two countries has become more and more substantive and effective in all five pillars: politics and diplomacy; defense and security; commerce and economy; science and technology; education, training, culture and people-to-people cooperation.

Speaking at the program, the First Secretary of the Indian Embassy Rachna Srivatas, ​​Acting Director of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Hanoi, expressed her delight at the good traditional cooperation and relationship between the two countries, which is increasingly consolidated and constantly developed.

This friendship grows stronger and is shown through many specific cooperation activities in the fields of economy, culture, education, etc.

In particular, people-to-people exchanges contribute to tightening the friendship, strengthening the attachment and understanding between people of both sides, and upgrading the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam - India to a higher level.

At the program, there were many meaningful cultural exchanges, including performances of traditional costumes of the two countries, Ao Dai and Sari, as well as songs praising the country and people of the two countries.
