According to Abdulla Alhameli, Chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of the UAE to Vietnam, the friendship football tournament has a profound meaning towards the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Vietnam (1993 - 2023) and the celebration of the year 2023. Besides, it is also a special occasion for football teams to interact and connect with each other, further enhancing the close relationship between the embassies.

The Chargé d'affaires also said that ​​the friendship between the UAE and Vietnam has been increasingly fruitful, and the bilateral cooperation has been consolidated and developed over the past thirty years. Generations of UAE leaders have always supported multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam.

Since the UAE and Vietnam officially established diplomatic relations in 1993, both sides have cooperated closely in many fields. The milestone when the two countries celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations is also the time when the international community recognizes the efforts of the UAE and Vietnam, for winning the position of non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council for the term 2020 - 2021 and 2022 - 2023; members of the Human Rights Council for the term 2022 - 2024 and 2023 - 2025; and Vietnam being elected as Vice President of the 77th United Nations General Assembly.

In early October 2021, the UAE was hosting the opening of Expo 2020 Dubai, an outstanding international event with the participation of many countries and cultures around the world. The UAE was also selected to host the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference in 2023. These prove the great efforts of the past years and are a mark of the beginning of the UAE's journey of the next 50 years toward more glorious achievements.

Over the past three decades, the great relationship between UAE - Vietnam has been increasingly developed and diversified. The two countries continue to cooperate effectively in many fields such as politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, aviation, culture, education, labor, and tourism. Both sides maintain exchanges of high-level visits, investment promotion, trade, and people-to-people exchanges, along with many signed Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding and mutual support at international forums. These all reflect the great potential in the cooperation between the two countries.
