Friendship Order Granted to Former Honorary Consul General of Vietnam in Gwangju-Jeonnam

Kim Sang Yeol, former Honorary Consul General of Vietnam in the Gwangju-Jeonnam has made many positive and effective contributions to promoting economic, cultural, and educational exchanges between Vietnam and Korea.

As assigned by President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of Korea (RoK) Nguyen Vu Tung presented the Friendship Order to Kim Sang Yeol, Chairman of Hoban Construction, Chairman of Hoban Study Promotion Fund, former Honorary Consul General of Vietnam in Gwangju-Jeonnam in South Korea on Nov. 18.

In his remark, ambassador Nguyen Vu Tung highly appreciated Kim Sang Yeol's contributions during his six years as Honorary Consul General of Vietnam in Gwangju-Jeonnam. Kim Sang Yeol has made positive and effective contributions to promoting economic, cultural, and educational exchanges between Vietnam and South Korea. He has contributed to the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Tung said that in recent years, Kim Sang Yeol has devoted to the activities of the Vietnamese community and the Vietnamese Student Association in Korea, especially is in Gwangju-Jeonnam.

Kim also promoted the connection of Vietnamese and South Korean localities. Thanks to his support, Ba Don town (Quang Binh, Vietnam) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Buk-gu district (Gwangju, South Korea) in 2016, Hoi An city (Quang Nam) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Quang San District (Gwangju) in 2017.

Moreover, he has coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy to RoK on welcoming many high-ranking Vietnamese delegations to RoK. Kim has participated in many important events such as Vietnam's National Day, Independence Day, 25 years anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - South Korea relations.

Kim Sang Yeol expressed his honor and thanked the state of Vietnam for awarding him the distinguished prize. He affirmed to continue to devote to the development of relations between the two countries regardless of his position in the coming time.

The Friendship Order is a noble recognition of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam awarded to foreigners who have made great contributions to building, consolidating, and developing the friendship between Vietnam and other countries in all fields, from politics, economy, national defense, security, diplomacy, science and technology, culture and society.
