He affirmed that Vietnam always appreciates Germany's leading role and position in Europe and the world, and attaches great importance to deepening the strategic partnership with Germany in all fields.
Prime Minister and Ambassador Guido Hildner said that after nearly 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations and more than 10 years of strategic partnership, Vietnam-Germany relations are consolidated, nurtured, and increasingly developed in all fields.
In terms of politics and diplomacy, the two sides regularly exchange high-level delegations at all levels, effectively maintaining bilateral cooperation mechanisms.
The two countries coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums and international organizations such as the United Nations, the ASEAN-Germany, and ASEAN-EU cooperation frameworks.
In particular, the visit to Vietnam by German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz (November 2022) and the visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier (January 2024) have created new momentum to promote relations between the two countries in many fields.
In terms of economics, trade, and investment, Germany continues to be Vietnam's largest trading partner in the EU and one of the EU's largest investors in Vietnam. The two countries' trade turnover reached over US$11 billion by 2023. German investment in Vietnam ranks 18th out of 143 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister thanked the German Government and people for supporting Vietnam with more than 10 million doses of vaccine and medical equipment during the Ambassador's term. This contributes to helping Vietnam soon repel the Covid-19 pandemic and quickly open, restore, and develop its economy and society.
Chinh appreciated Germany’s support for Vietnam’s socio-economic development over the past more than three decades, particularly its identification of Vietnam as a global partner in the Development Cooperation Strategy 2030 with the three priorities of energy, environment, and vocational training.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the two sides have a good relationship foundation. He suggested that in the coming time, the two countries need to further deepen cooperation in all fields to elevate the strategic partnership.
He suggested Germany grant more scholarships to Vietnamese students and strengthen collaboration in vocational training and high-quality personnel development, saying the two countries should continue working together in materializing the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, and the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement once it comes into force.
The Government of Vietnam continues to improve the institutional and policy system to enhance the investment and business environment in a favorable, equitable, safe, stable, and friendly direction to foreign investors, including the fields of energy conversion, and climate change response.

Germany lauds Vietnam’s commitment to net zero emissions by 2050, and hopes to play a more active role in the Southeast Asian nation’s energy transition, including its implementation of agreements within the JETP, the Ambassador said.
He appreciated Vietnam's position and role in the international arena, especially in ASEAN and the United Nations, and believed that Vietnam's strong development is good for the world.
Sharing Vietnam's views on the value of peace, the Ambassador said Germany wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in multilateral forums, contributing to promoting global trade, peace and stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, for the prosperity of the people.
