	Hai Phong Students Introduced to Korean Culture

Do Trang Thanh, Chairman of the Hai Phong City Peace Committee, shared their innovative method to attract public attention to join in peace activities in recent years. "The Hai Phong City Peace Committee has made many innovations in its activities, taking advantage of the widespread support of people from other countries for the people's cause of building and protecting Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular. Thereby, contributing to enhancing the city's multilateral foreign policy position in the process of international integration and supporting peace movements worldwide."

Thanh delivered his speech at the 6th congress, the 2024-2029 term of the Hai Phong Union of Friendship Organizations, which recently took place.

According to Thanh, with creative methods suitable to practical conditions, every year the Hai Phong Peace Committee coordinates with units to organize activities to celebrate International Peace Day (September 21); pray for the heroes and martyrs on Vietnamese War Invalids' and Martyrs' Day (July 27); mobilize philanthropists to donate gifts to victims of Agent Orange/dioxin in the city; organized a large-scale signature gathering of all members, families, students in Hai Phong to support the adoption of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons by the Mayors For Peace organization, to name a few.

In 2021, the Hai Phong Peace Committee established a Peace Club at Vietnam Maritime University. This is the first implementation model of the peace education project in the country to encourage school students to contribute to the cause of creating, building, and protecting peace in the city and country.

Club members all identify that the task of building a culture of peace in schools is not only the task of organizations but also the specific tasks and responsibilities of each individual. Therefore, members proactively and voluntarily participate in humanitarian, charitable, and volunteer activities for the community implemented by the Youth Union and Student Association at all levels in the school. Thereby, creating an environment for students to contribute to solving problems of poverty, environmental protection, security, safety, socio-economic development, sharing, and helping difficult situations. , misfortune, and gratitude to the families of martyrs and people with meritorious service.

In addition, cultural exchange festivals are also regularly organized for students to learn about different aspects of culture, history, and traditions of countries and peoples; thereby expanding knowledge, and understanding between peoples and countries, creating the foundation for people's diplomacy to become one of the three pillars of Vietnamese diplomacy.

Following the success of the activities of the Peace Club at Vietnam Maritime University, in 2022 the Hai Phong Peace Committee established the peace club at Hai Phong University. In 2023, the club coordinated with relevant agencies to implement many meaningful activities.

Speaking about their new approach to raising awareness for the young generation about peace, environmental protection, fighting against war, poverty, and climate change, and contributing to promoting solidarity international friendship and solidarity for peace in the region and the world, Thanh highlighted that the Hai Phong Peace Committee regularly participates and responds to activities expressing solidarity and support for the struggle of people from other countries for peace, national independence, and democracy, territorial integrity, and socio-economic development.

At the same time, they responded and participated in the movement for peace and solidarity of people of all countries through participation in international forums; visiting and working with the Chinese People's Association For Peace And Disarmament; attending the World Peace Council Executive Committee's Meeting; join the working group to visit the Lao Committee for Peace and Solidarity; Participate in the delegation attending the World Conference against A & H Bombs in Japan.

According to Thanh, inheriting the results of activities in recent years, in the coming time, the Hai Phong Peace Committee will continue to adhere to the motto "Proactive, flexible, creative, effective" to join hands together with the Party, State, and city, implement the policy of "bamboo diplomacy"; contributing to peace-loving people around the world in building a world of peace, stability and development.
