Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Council Pham Qui Tien received a delegation of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Association of Osaka prefecture led by its Chairman Wada Kenji.

Speaking at the meeting, the Association’s Chairman emphasized the goal of promoting cooperation between Osaka prefecture with Vietnamese localities and affirmed that this visit to Vietnam’s three big cities, taking place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of relations between the two countries, will be a valuable opportunity to further tighten the relationship between Vietnam and Japan.

Expecting that Osaka could strengthen relationships with universities in Hanoi to promote people-to-people exchanges, the Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Association of Osaka prefecture hoped to receive support from the Hanoi People's Council for coordinated activities in the coming time.

Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Pham Qui Tien stated that 2023 marks an important milestone in the Vietnam - Japan relationship, with the extensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries continuing to be strongly implemented, with depth, and a high level of reliability. According to Tien, 2023 will also witness many meaningful commemorative activities, contributing to strengthening relations between the two countries, between Hanoi and Japanese localities, including Osaka prefecture.

Tien also emphasized that Japan is currently the leading foreign investor in Hanoi through many big enterprises, bringing positive impacts to the capital's economic growth and development. Cultural exchange is also a bright spot, with many impressive activities taking place in the city, attracting the attention and participation of people.

Appreciating the role of the Association, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council said that the Association's activities have made an important contribution to the relationship between the people of the two countries, including the Hanoi people. Emphasizing that the Capital government always attaches importance to the role of people-to-people exchange, he showed his hope that the Association’s Chairman Wada Kenji and the Association will continue to promote their role as a friendship bridge, promoting the development of extensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan and friendship cooperation between Hanoi and Japanese localities, including Osaka, is becoming more and more in-depth, practical and effective.

Within the framework of the meeting, delegates of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Association of Osaka prefecture spent time introducing the Osaka Kansai International Exhibition scheduled to take place in 2025 in Osaka. With the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, Expo 2025 encourages global cooperation to create sustainable societies, in line with the United Nations’ goals. The Association expressed their expectation for the participation of Hanoi delegates.
