The Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations (HAUFO) on July 2 coordinated with the People's Committee of Tay Ho district and the Hành trình xanh (Green Journey) Charity Fund to organize the program "Lotus Connecting Tenderness" to visit and give gratitude gifts to 42 policy families in Hanoi on the 77th anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers’ Day (July 27, 1947-2024).

Speaking at the program, Tran Thi Phuong, HAUFO Permanent Vice President, said that taking care of wounded and sick soldiers, caring for and visiting the families of martyrs and revolutionary devotees is an honor and a responsibility, demonstrating the gratitude of today's generation for the priceless sacrifices of ancestors for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
74-year-old Hoang Duc Loc, residing in Tay Ho district, a wounded soldier who fought in the Tay Ninh battlefield in 1968, said that on the annual Wounded and Fallen Soldiers' Day, he always feels cared for, receiving visits and encouragement from all levels of government from central to local levels.
“The gift is not only material support, but also great spiritual encouragement, reminding us that our sacrifices are always recognized and appreciated. This is also the motivation for us to continue living and contributing to building the country," Loc added.

Also on the morning of July 2, the HAUFO delegation came to offer incense at the Hanoi Martyrs Cemetery, commemorating and paying tribute to the brave martyrs fought and heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and the happiness of the people.

The "Lotus Connecting Tenderness" program is part of the framework of the 2024 Hanoi Lotus Festival and will officially open on July 12. The event was held for the first time in Hanoi to promote and honor the beauty and cultural values of the capital.
The festival will take place many activities to introduce the unique values of lotus tea brewing along with the unique characteristics of lotus culture in the lives of the Vietnamese people, such as workshop to preserve and develop Vietnamese lotus flowers; OCOP product introduction and sales centre; exhibition of lotus installation art space and an exhibition of lotus photos in Vietnamese life; and music night titled "Trinh Cong Son and friends."
