HCMC's Businesses Strengthen Connections with Overseas Vietnamese Entrepreneurs
To develop the trade supply chain, export and consumption of Vietnamese products, increase export value and diversify markets, in the coming time, the Ho Chi Minh City's Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs will deploy three missions.
Vu Thi Huynh Mai, head of the Ho Chi Minh City's Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, said that in order to promote the achieved results, in the coming time, the committee will coordinate with municipal agencies to orient the implementation of work in developing the commercial supply chain of products and goods from Ho Chi Ming City (HCMC) to increase export value and diversify markets.

Firstly, diversify and improve the quality of information programs to popularize Vietnamese products and goods in line with the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign aimed at the Vietnamese community abroad, helping them better understand the Vietnamese products, and enterprises in HCMC with export potential and reputable brand to introduce to consumers in the host country.
Second, boost trade promotion activities, connecting city businesses with overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs and businesses through successfully organized trade promotion programs such as the 'Vietnam Goods Week' program at distribution systems and large supermarkets of multinational corporations doing successful business in Vietnam or of overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs and businesses in markets with a large population of Vietnamese people such as the United States, Australia, Europe, Northeast Asia and ASEAN.
Organizing a city business delegation to participate in the city to exhibit the city's typical export products at major international specialized fairs and exhibitions. At the same time, holding Business-to-Business (B2B) activities between local businesses and overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs and businesses, focusing on the city's main export product groups associated with the key business development program, creative startups and key product development according to the Resolution of the 11th HCMC Party Congress, the 2020 - 2025 tenure.
Third, improve the effectiveness of coordination with associations, business associations, experts, and intellectuals to mobilize overseas entrepreneurs and businesses to act as focal points for direct import of goods in Vietnam or participate as an agent or representative for Vietnamese goods in the host country.
Mobilizing overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs and businesses to support space to display and introduce products at business establishments of the Vietnamese community abroad.
Assembling overseas Vietnamese experts, intellectuals and businessmen to support the transfer of science, advanced technology and digital transformation solutions to apply to the production and business process and corporate governance, helping local enterprises improve production capacity, product quality, competitiveness and build reputable Vietnamese product brands in foreign markets.
According to statistics of the State Bank of Vietnam (HCMC branch), remittance data transferred to the city through the system of commercial banks and economic organizations over all of 2023 is expected to reach about US $8.92 billion (estimated at VND 215 trillion), an increase of 35% compared to 2022. For 2023, HCMC's revenues are estimated at VND 439.3 trillion. The amount of remittances transferred is equal to half of the city's total budget revenue for the whole year. |
