Due to impacts of the cold spell and alpine winds, ice and frost appeared in mountainous areas of Vietnam's northern region, reported local newspapers.
Thick ice and frost have appeared on the peak of Phia Oac Mt. in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bang since early Feb. 20, as temperatures dropped to below zero degree Celsius.
At a height of 1,930m above sea level, Phja Oac is the roof of Cao Bang. Frost and ice are normal phenomena here in winter.
This is the first time frost has been seen in the area this year as nighttime temperatures drop to just about -2 to -5 degrees Celsius with light rain and strong winds.
