H’Hen Nie, Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 and Miss Universe 2018 pageant contestant, has been named an ambassador for Room to Read, a global non-profit focused on literacy and girls’ education, in 2018 with commitment to raise USD 22,000 (about VND 512 million).
According to announcement was made on December 27 by Room to Read, H'Hen Nie – Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 has achieved over the fundraising target for Room to Read: USD 24,504 (VND 567 million). With this amount of money, H'Hen Nie has funded the creation of a Room to Read library stocked with quality reading materials in Lam Dong province as well as the support of 50 girls across Asia and Africa to complete secondary school and develop key life skills through Room to Read’s Girls’ Education Program.
Besides, H'Hen Nie also worked on personal fundraising for one more Room to Read library in the expansion model at Le Thi Hong Gam primary school, where she went to study in Dak Lak province. Not only financial support, H'Hen Nie was very active in attending activities of Room to Read in both programs - Literacy Program and Girls’ Education Program in various provinces, bringing a lot of happiness and inspiration to our beneficiaries as well as our staff.

In December, Room to Read is one of 29 foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) honored and awarded the certificate of merit by the Committee for Foreign NGO Affairs for their outstanding contributions to Vietnam’s socio-economic development in period 2014-2018./.
