Hoan expressed his delight at seeing the outstanding young delegates - exceptional individuals who had excelled through multiple selection rounds to represent their countries on the SSEAYP journey and were now present in Ho Chi Minh City.

He further affirmed that the presence of these delegates is an honor for Ho Chi Minh City, providing an opportunity for the city’s youth and residents to demonstrate their friendship, hospitality, and to showcase the city’s history, culture, society, and developmental achievements.

"The city’s youth always aspire to engage and learn from the outstanding young people of Southeast Asia and Japan, fostering personal growth, strengthening bonds of friendship, and contributing to the city's, nation’s, and region’s diplomatic relations.

I hope that each SSEAYP delegate will act as a cultural ambassador, serving as a bridge to promote the beauty and achievements of their nation while bringing the image of Ho Chi Minh City’s people and culture closer to the international community," Hoan said.

The 48th Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP), marking a significant milestone in the cooperative relations between the governments of 10 ASEAN countries and Japan, officially docked at Tan Cang - Hiep Phuoc Port (Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City) on the afternoon of November 14.

This year, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union is once again honored to host the reception for SSEAYP for the 18th time, welcoming 168 delegates from ASEAN countries, Timor-Leste, and Japan, including 15 representatives from Vietnam.

Initiated in 1974, SSEAYP is more than just a youth diplomacy program, it provides a valuable opportunity for young generations to explore and learn about the diverse cultures of the region while enhancing their international integration capabilities.

Vietnam officially joined SSEAYP in 1995 and has consistently left a strong impression within the ASEAN and Japanese youth communities.

The 2024 Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP) reception event takes place from November 14 to November 17.
