On June 22, the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy coordinated with the 18th Asian Film Festival to organize "Vietnam Day," within the framework of the festival, which will take place from June 17 to 23, 2021 at the Farnese cinema, the capital city of Rome.

The event in turn brought four films "Bac kim thang" (English title: "Home sweet home," 2019), "Tiec trang mau" ("Blood moon party," 2020), "Rom" ("Rom," 2019) and “Bo gia” (“Dad, I’m sorry,” 2021).

Among the films mentioned above, "Bac kim thang" by director Tran Huu Tan is among the few domestic horror films. The film revolves around the story of an unhappy family, where the "true" grandson is much more loved, so many conflicts arise. The title "Home sweet home" with the idea that home is a happy place, is actually ironic when the film's message is: Family is not always a place to return to.

Apart from "Home sweet home," Blood Moon Party," "Dad, I'm Sorry" and "Rom" - prominent representatives of Vietnamese cinema in 2020 will appear on the Vietnamese film screening day for the audience of the Italian Asian Film Festival this year.

"Dad, I'm sorry" - "the phenomenon of VND 400 billion (US$17,3 million)" has just established a new "million-dollar" achievement in the US. According to information from the producer, the film appeared in 47 theaters in many states, attracting Vietnamese audiences and bringing in an additional US$1.08 million, becoming a new feat of Vietnamese films in this American country.

"Bo gia" originally debuted in the US in just 19 theaters via 3388 Films, landing a spot in the Top 10 that first weekend and grossing over US$400,000 to claim the record of best opening weekend for a Vietnamese film in US theaters. It then expanded to 38 cinemas on its second weekend, before playing in 47 across the US this past frame. That’s the widest theater count for any Vietnam film in the US market, according to 3388 Films, cited VNP.
