Journal from Vietnam's University Listed on Scopus

The Journal of Economic Development (JED) of National Economics University officially entered the Scopus List of Indexed Journals, further paving way to spread Vietnamese science in the international community.

The National Economics University recently held a ceremony to announce its Journal of Economics and Development (JED) joining the Scopus List of Indexed Journals.

JED is a scientific journal in the field of economics and development with two versions: the English version releases 4 issues/year on Emerald Publishing House's system, and the Vietnamese version publishes 12 issues/year. Since its official presence on the Emerald Publishing System database in May 2019, JED has published 15 issues with 104 research articles by authors from 45 countries worldwide.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong, rector of the university, said that after persistent efforts and strict registration, appraisal, evaluation and application process, on December 10, 2023, the JED was officially added to the list of journals in the Scopus directory.

The event of JED joining Scopus is the honor and pride of the school's pedagogical team, demonstrating the scientific research capacity, not only of scientists of the National Economics University but also of Vietnamese scientists. This is also evidence of the close connection, continuity and spread of knowledge between domestic and foreign scientists through the publication of scientific articles that meet international standards and have a profound impact, Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Chuong said.

According to Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc, the journal of the National Economics University is the second journal among the scholarly publication from universities under the Ministry of Education and Training to successfully join Scopus directory. Previously, more than a year ago, a journal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics also entered the Scopus list.

Over the past 10 years, the number of international publications by Vietnamese higher education institutions in the prestigious journals Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus increased more than 4 times. “Up to now, it can be affirmed that the team of lecturers and scientists at Vietnamese universities and colleges have matured scientifically and are truly capable of international publication and integration. to the world," the Deputy Minister said.

Scopus was built in November 2004 and is owned by the prestigious international publishing house Elsevier (Netherlands). This is a bibliographic database containing abstracts and citations of scientific articles.

To be listed on the Scopus list, journals must pass a strict evaluation and selection round from the Professional Appraisal Council with 21 criteria related to important content such as international diversity editorial board and authors, article quality, citation coefficient, disclosure policy of the journal.
