Kon Tum Promotes Economic Diplomacy to Serve Sustainable Development
Kon Tum promotes economic cooperation with foreign partners
Over the past years, Kon Tum has utilized diplomatic relations between the province and other countries to promote economic cooperation, thereby contributing to the province's socio-economic development.
Particularly, it has deployed and ensured the substance of trade and investment contents in international agreements for 2022 - 2027 and 2023 - 2028 between Kon Tum and provinces in Southern Laos and Northeast Cambodia, as long as MoUs that it has signed with South Korean provincial authorities and businesses.
Kon Tum promotes cooperation within the Mekong Subregion, the Vietnam - Laos and Cambodia Development Triangle Area. It has expanded economic relations with provinces in Thailand and Myanmar to gradually form economic, transportation, and logistics axes and routes through the Bo Y International Border Gate.
The province promotes exchanging delegations and information, contacting and meeting with localities and partners from developed countries to promote the establishment of cooperative relations, thereby mobilizing, and attracting financial, technological, experience, and knowledge resources.
In August 2023, the province's delegation attended the Business and Investment Cooperation Conference between Lam Dong and India, where provincial businesses had the opportunity to promote products and connect with Indian businesses. Indian businesses showed interest in the province's products, notably ginger, chili, cinnamon, and vegetables.
Kon Tum continues to implement administrative reform and create favorable conditions for foreign investors and partners to cooperate with the province according to the provisions of the law. Kon Tum promotes cooperation in technology application and transfer, especially in high-tech agriculture, medicinal materials, innovation, and human resource training.
While implementing cooperation projects, the province closely coordinates with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies to propose frameworks, mechanisms, and measures to strengthen economic and trade cooperation with localities and investors from other countries in accordance with the international laws and commitments that Vietnam is a signatory.
The 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam determined to "build economic diplomacy to serve development, with people, localities, and businesses as the center." On August 10, 2022, the Party Central Committee's Secretariat issued Directive No. 15-CT/TW on economic diplomacy for the country's development towards 2030.

Enhancing economic cooperation to serve sustainable development
On December 23, 2022, the Provincial Party Standing Committee issued Plan No. 78-KH/TU on implementing the mentioned directive. On November 21, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 4071/KH-UBND to implement the above directive and plan on economic diplomacy.
The plan determines to continue to drastically concretize the policy of building economic diplomacy to serve development, with people, localities, and businesses as the center, making economic diplomacy truly a dynamic force for rapid and sustainable development.
Accordingly, the province's agencies and units need to enhance their proactiveness and responsibility in promoting economic diplomacy activities, and proactively contact, meet, and work with corporations and business associations of other countries to promote cooperation and attract investment.
The plan prioritizes promoting new growth drivers, which are digital transformation, green development, and circular economy, as well as promoting innovation and diversifying markets, products, and supply chains. It stressed the importance of well-organizing foreign affairs programs and activities at all levels, continuing to put economic content a focus on foreign affairs activities.
The province needs to strengthen the implementation of external information activities, promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam, particularly of Kon Tum to international friends. Besides, it needs to strongly promote and innovate tourism activities, and protect and promote cultural heritage values associated with sustainable development of Kon Tum, as well as of Vietnam.
Together with that, Kon Tum needs to encourage and create favorable conditions for businesses and people to proactively and actively participate in economic diplomacy in proper forms under the management of the State to promote specific results and projects, while ensuring substantive efficiency and serving people and businesses as the basis.
Kon Tum sets out a target to regularly send officials to training courses held by the Central Government and proactively coordinate with reputable educational institutions to train staff in external relations and economic diplomacy. By focusing on education, it looks to improve moral qualities, political courage, knowledge, and skills in economic diplomacy, international economics, international law, and international integration of the staff.
Kon Tum's immutable principle in the implementation process is putting the nation-state's interest and substantive effectiveness as top priority; promoting international solidarity and multilateralism, considering the people the subject, center and driving force, and ensuring close following the country and province's situation.
