Kon Tum: 5,000 Flags, 100 Scholarships Presented to Border Residents

Recently, at Bo Y International Border Gate's Border Guard Station (Po Y Commune, Ngoc Hoi District), Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee in collaboration with "Nguoi Lao Dong" (The Labourer) Newspaper organized the program “Proud of national flags” and handed over 5,000 national flags and 100 gifts under the "Scholarship to Support Ethnic Minority Students and Poor Students" program to local residents and students.
It is known that in Kon Tum province, the “Pride of National Flags” program held a ceremony to present 10,000 national flags to soldiers and people in border districts. At the same time, giving 5,000 national flags to the youth union members of the province to carry out flag routes to revolutionary relics and famous places in the locality.
Up to now, the program has presented to Kon Tum province a total of 25,000 national flags. Thus, Kon Tum is one of the provinces receiving the highest amount of flags from the program in the Central Highlands.
During the program, former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh and other delegates attended the flag-raising ceremony at the border crossing milestone, followed by the program "Scholarships to support ethnic minority students and students" with 100 scholarships worth VND 1 million (42.4 USD) each, for 100 students who are children of soldiers, ethnic minorities with difficult circumstances of Kon Tum province.
Through this program, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Thap thanked the concern of the program organizing committee, described the flags as meaningful presents to the armed forces, soldiers, and people in the district’s border areas, contributing to supporting them in firmly safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and border security.
At the same time, he suggested that soldiers and people in the border areas respectfully receive the national flag presented by the program, considering this as a gift of sacred meaning, expressing their national pride, and determination to fulfill the task of protecting the country's sovereignty.
Kon Tum province lies in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam and shares borders with Laos and Cambodia.

The "Nguoi Lao Dong" newspaper initiated a national program in June 2019 to present national flags to border residents and fishermen, encouraging and supporting them in safeguarding national independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
This is a significant activity, contributing to affirming the country's sovereignty from the sea and islands to the mainland, continuing to support scholarships for poor students to overcome difficulties; and at the same time paying attention to, sharing, supporting, and encouraging cadres, armed forces and people of ethnic groups in Kon Tum province in the cause of national construction and defense.
Earlier, residents and soldiers in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong received 10,000 national flags. In addition, 100 scholarships were presented to impoverished students in Tuy Duc and Krong No districts.
To date, the program has presented 20,000 flags to Dak Nong province.
With four border districts, Dak Nong shares a borderline of about 141km with Cambodia’s Moldunkiri province.
