Korean Students Render Volunteer Services in Hanoi

As many as 30 students, officials and teachers from the Kookmin University of the Republic of Korea (RoK), the Korea-Vietnam Culture Communication Centre (KCCC) and the Korean International School in Hanoi participated in a summer volunteer programme in Hanoi’s outlying Quoc Oai district from July 10-18.
As part of the Sungkok Global Volunteer (SGV) programme launched by the Kookmin University, the volunteer activities took place at the Tan Hoa Primary School in Tan Hoa commune, Quoc Oai district.
The volunteers engaged in various activities like wall painting and exchanges with 125 local pupils, focusing on the topics of environment, the Korean language, music, design and technology.
Notably, the local pupils were guided to classify waste and introduced about Hanbok, the traditional costume of the RoK.

The volunteers also held cultural and sport exchange activities, featuring Taekwondo, K-POP, and swimming.
Lee Ji Ho, a 23-year-old volunteer, noted a hope that following the program, local pupils will pay more attention to plastic recycling.

The Kookmin University delegation also organized a contest named "Sunggok Global Design Camp” at the Korean International School in Hanoi on July 19.
The KCCC and the volunteer delegation expressed their hope that such activities will be useful to Vietnamese students.
The Kookmin University was established in 1946 as the RoK's first private university after winning independence from Japan in 1945. Now as one of the largest universities in the metropolitan Seoul area, KMU is leading noteworthy educational innovations by carrying out various government-funded projects in various subjects, such as automotive engineering, software, design, and natural science, to name a few.
