"For a nation, language serves as the foundation for cultural and social development. On a personal level, it is a tool for communication and the acquisition of knowledge. Mastering multiple languages enhances both intellectual growth and emotional depth," said Consul General Dang Thi Hai Tam.

The diplomat emphasized the importance of language learning between Vietnam and Laos, given their relations as neighboring countries. She expressed hope that this contest would inspire students to further their study and practice of the Vietnamese language in the upcoming academic year.

By learning Vietnamese, students not only gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam's culture, history, and traditions but also open doors to future opportunities for study and work in Vietnam. These students will serve as bridges, thereby strengthening the close, enduring cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

The "I Love Vietnamese" contest attracted 30 students, divided into five teams. The contestants competed in both multiple-choice and presentation rounds. The event was marked by an enthusiastic atmosphere, with students fully utilizing their knowledge to meet their team challenges.

Accordingly, the contest provided a valuable platform for students to develop essential skills in learning Vietnamese and offered opportunities for life skills education. This experience helped them improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, thus promoting the study and use of Vietnamese within the Savannakhet community.

Following the contest, organizers awarded certificates and prizes to the teams that won first, second, third, and consolation prizes.

In early 2024, Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son and Lao Minister of Education and Sports Phout Simmalavong signed a 2024 education cooperation plan. Among the agreements is a commitment by both ministries to continue strengthening the teaching and learning of Vietnamese in Laos.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training has also announced the recruitment of Vietnamese teachers and lecturers to teach Vietnamese in Laos from 2024 to 2026. Additionally, the Lao side is considering including Vietnamese as an optional foreign language in the national high school graduation exam.
