Contestants will go through various rounds, including catwalk, community project presentation, costume performance, talent show, and behavior assessment.

The contest, jointly held by the Vietnam-ASEAN Friendship Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Open University, will run from August 20 to September 24 in HCM City. It aims to seek students who can work as “ambassadors” in promoting the culture of ASEAN countries.

The winners should have knowledge about the ASEAN culture and interest in promoting the culture of ASEAN countries to Vietnam and the world through culture and art activities, workshops and community projects.

Organisers said the contest is within the framework of the Southeast Asian Culture Festival, part of activities celebrating the 56^th anniversary of the ten-member grouping (August 8, 1967-2023), 28 years since Vietnam joined the bloc (July 28) and Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2023.

The winners should have knowledge about the ASEAN culture and interest in promoting the culture of ASEAN countries to Vietnam and the world through culture and art activities, workshops and community projects.

It is expected to bring Southeast Asian culture closer to students in HCM City in particular and Vietnam in general.

Founded on August 8, 1967, the ASEAN has been the starting point for an intensive connection process for peace, stability and development in Southeast Asia.

From five initial members, the association has gathered the10 members of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. A roadmap for the admission of Timor-Leste as an official member of the grouping has also been adopted.

Over the past 56 years, the association has left many important hallmarks in the regional cooperation and connection process, while gaining outstanding achievements.

ASEAN members have always supported each other for common development in all fields, turning Southeast Asia into a region of cooperation, development, trust and global integration.

Over the years, ASEAN has been a model for successful regional connectivity.

Since joining ASEAN, Vietnam has made many positive contributions to the common development of the whole bloc, thereby enhancing Vietnam's position and leading role in the organisation./.
