The inauguration of this new consular representation, headed by the Honorary Consul of Morocco in HCM City, Doan Huu Duc, took place in the presence of Director General of External Relations Department of the city, Tran Phuoc Anh.
Speaking on the reception after the ceremony, Ambassador Jamale Chouaibi underlined that Morocco and Vietnam share a lot of similarities, namely their geo-strategic position, their political stability, their dynamic emerging economies and a strong political will to further enhance and expand their bilateral partnership.
He also highlighted the assigned priorities, namely the establishment of joint ventures and the enhancement of cooperation and partnership through exchange of experiences and expertise in each country’s domains of excellence, such as manufacturing, agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture, tourism, and renewable energy.
Ambassador Chouaibi also stressed the need to focus on the organization of Business Fora and the promotion of tourism and cultural exchanges between the two countries with the aim to foster mutual understanding as well as a growth and diversification of bilateral trade.
The opening of the Honorary Consulate of Morocco in HCM City, a major financial, industrial and economic hub of Vietnam, is a catalyst that will give a new impetus to the development of economic and trade relations between the two countries, given the strategic role that this megapolis plays in the Vietnamese economy, and the high profile of Doan Huu Duc who enjoys respect and trust within the business community.
Duc pledged to do his best to fulfill his role as well as further reinforce the friendship between the two countries’ people.
Doan Huu Duc received a certificate of recognition for his position from the Consular Department under the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Hanoi in December 2021.

Morocco’s appointment of an honorary consul in Ho Chi Minh City on December 7, 2021 has contributed to creating more trade and business opportunities between the two countries, Chouaibi has shared in an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) in this January.
The ambassador noted that in the political sphere, the two countries share a number of basic principles in external relations, especially the respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, no intervention in each other’s internal affairs, the promotion of peace, stability and development, and commitments to addressing disputes via dialogue, conciliation and negotiation.
He emphaized the exchange of visits by government and legislative leaders, notably the visit to Morocco by then National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan in March 2019, and the visit to Vietnam by President of the Moroccan House of Representatives Habib El Malki in December 2017.
The online talks between NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and President of the Moroccan House of Representatives Habib El Malki on July 7, 2021 have demonstrated the two sides’ wish to promote the bilateral ties, the ambassador said.
He viewed the establishment of the Vietnam-Morocco friendship association as a step forward in the promotion of the bilateral cooperation and mutual understanding.
The diplomat noted that the Vietnam-Morocco cooperation focuses on politics, economy and culture, and both countries have shown their political will to consolidate and expand the partnership, as reflected through the increasing number of agreements and memoranda of understanding.
Morocco and Vietnam should jointly carry out tripartite or quadrilateral investment projects in African countries, especially in agriculture, with the participation of international donors, he suggested.
