New Vietnamese Association Launched in Morocco

At the Vietnamese Association in Morocco, the delegates approved the Association's Charter and Operational Orientation, elected the Association's Executive Board consisting of 11 people, including the President, the Secretary General and the elected Honorary President.

The founding ceremony of Vietnamese Association in Morocco took place in the capital city of Rabat, with the participation of Vietnamese Ambassador to Morocco Dang Thi Thu Ha, representatives of local authorities and nearly 100 delegates from many provinces and cities of Morocco.

At the beginning of the ceremony, all Embassy staff and delegates respectfully offered incense to President Ho Chi Minh. The delegates approved the Association's Charter and Operational Orientation, elected the Association's Executive Board consisting of 11 people, led by Ms. Korchane Juliette (Vietnamese name: Tuyet) as the President, Ms. Amal Allam as Secretary General. The elected Honorary President is Tran Thi Hong May.

Attending the ceremony were a large number of second- and third-generation expatriates, as well as students and workers in the area, of which nearly 40% of the members of the Executive Committee were the young generation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Dang Thi Thu Ha highly appreciated the efforts of the community for preparing to establish the Association as well as coordinating with the Embassy to build the Vietnam Gate in Morocco.

Ambassador Thu Ha hopes that with many past activities to connect people in the community, the Association will be a common home for all members of the Vietnamese community in Morocco, promoting the key role in gathering the Vietnamese community in the area, striving to achieve, preserve and promote the national identity, look towards the homeland and the country and actively contribute to the development of friendship and cooperation between the peoples of Vietnam and Morocco.

On this occasion, the Ambassador also emphasized the key tasks stated in Conclusion No. 12-KL/TW on the work of overseas Vietnamese in the new situation issued by the Politburo on August 12, 2021, adding that the delegates are to base on the above tasks and the establishment purpose of the Association and discuss specific measures to renew and diversify forms of community mobilization, especially the young generation.

The President of the Vietnamese Association in Morocco, Ms. Korchane Juliette expressed the gratitude of the Vietnamese community in Morocco for the concern of the Party, State and Embassy, ​​affirming that the Association will make efforts to deserves that attention and trust, and at the same time wishes to continue to receive orientation and support in the coming time.

She also said that in the future, the Association will coordinate with the Embassy to establish a network of Vietnamese people in the area, hold Vietnamese language classes for overseas Vietnamese children, plan trip to Vietnam, complete and open the Vietnamese Gate project in Morocco, organizes a number of activities to associate and cooperate with Moroccan friend associations...

At the moment, the Vietnamese community in Morocco, formed in the 1940s, has about 300-400 people with mainly the families of Moroccan soldiers who participated in supporting the resistance war against the French of Morocco, besides some workers and students studying abroad.
