Chen Yi Ling, Director of Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation delivered a speech at the event.

According to Chen Yi Ling, NCF's decision to open a representative office in Vietnam comes from the spirit of "giving back with love", bringing opportunities for surgery and comprehensive medical care to more patients, expanding cooperation with more hospitals, and improving the medical team's expertise. NCF is committed to continuing its efforts to bring medical care opportunities to children with craniofacial deformities and their families, helping them regain their confident smiles and build a bright future.

Tran Minh Dien, the Director of the National Children's Hospital, stated that the hospital sees 4,000-5,000 children for examinations daily, and approximately 2,000 pediatric patients receiving inpatient treatment for complex diseases. This high volume of pediatric patients requires doctors to master many advanced techniques. In this context, NCF has been one of the international organizations supporting the National Children's Hospital in providing treatment for patients. Since 2018, NCF has sponsored children and their families for cleft lip and palate surgery programs.

"Setting up an office in Vietnam not only helps NCF reach more children in need of surgery, but also creates opportunities to expand cooperation and provide specialized training for medical staff in cleft lip, cleft palate and hearing surgery," said Tran Minh Dien.

Delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the NCF office in Vietnam.

Liu Shih Chung, Chief Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam, said: Over the years, NCF has supported thousands of children and families of children with disabilities in Taiwan (China) and many other countries to access treatment opportunities. In Vietnam, NCF has organized 17 working groups to conduct health checks and treatment for children. Additionally, the organization facilitates arrangements for children to travel to Taiwan (China) for surgery.

Liu Shih Chung expressed his hope that the opening of NCF’s representative office in Vietnam will contribute to further enhancing medical cooperation between Taiwan (China) and Vietnam.

The Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation (NCF) was founded in 1989 by Professor Samuel Noordhoff. He is among the founders of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, one of the largest private hospitals in Taiwan.

In 1998, NCF began implementing assistance programs in many countries, including Vietnam. In Vietnam, NCF implemented the first cooperation project with the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology in 2014, and continued to expand medical support by cooperating with the National Children's Hospital in 2018.

With nearly 30 years of accompanying Vietnamese healthcare, NCF has sponsored 20 medical staff to study and train at Chang Gung Hospital; provided medical equipment and machinery to support treatment; performed free surgery for more than 5,468 children with cleft lip and palate; organized 17 free surgery programs.
