Nearly 100 International Guests Attend Friendship Meeting to Welcome Year of Dragon

The event was organized by the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations in Hanoi, on January 29. They are ambassadors, charge d'affaires, heads of diplomatic missions, representatives of international organizations, foreign non-governmental organizations, friends, and partners of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations.

Vietnamese delegates at the event included Nguyen Thuy Anh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Social Committee, President of the Vietnam-France Association of Friendship and Cooperation; Vu Hai Ha, Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee; Nguyen Thi Hoang Van, Standing Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Committee on Foreign Affairs; Nguyen Minh Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; representatives of central departments, ministries, units and Hanoi.

Also participating in the event were members of the Standing Committee and the Presidium, representatives of leaders of central and local member organizations, and officers of the standing agency of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations.

In his remarks, Phan Anh Son, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, said that in 2023, the world and region witnessed complex and unpredictable changes. In Vietnam, 2023 is a pivotal year to implement the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress, as well as strategies and plans for building and developing the country. Vietnam has reached notable achievements in socio-economic development.

2023 is also a successful year for Vietnam's foreign affairs. With solidarity, determination to innovate and overcome difficulties, and the motto "proactive, flexible, creative, effective", the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations has achieved important results in people-to-people foreign affairs, foreign non-governmental work, research, consultation, information, and external information.

The people-to-people diplomacy activities of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations closely connect with and effectively contribute to Party foreign affairs and State diplomacy, contributing to creating a positive social foundation to promote friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and other countries.

The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations actively supports foreign non-governmental organizations operating in Vietnam with administrative procedures, connecting with localities, ministries, and branches of Vietnam, coordinating with partners and sponsors, and deploying activities and projects... In 2023, foreign non-governmental organizations contributed nearly USD 228 million to implement programs and projects in Vietnam.

To continue boosting the achievements, in the coming time, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations will focus on promoting the following work:

Firstly, promote and strengthen the organizational system from the central to local levels and train a team of staff specialized in people-to-people foreign affairs.

Secondly, strongly innovate in thinking, approaches, organization methods, and content of people-to-people foreign affairs activities.

Thirdly, maintain, strengthen, and expand a strong, reputable, and widespread network of regional partners; expand and effectively participate in multilateral mechanisms.

Fourthly, improve the effectiveness of cooperation and support for the activities of foreign non-governmental organizations.

Fifthly, promote and expand the application of modern technology and new media trends to improve the effectiveness of external information and propaganda.

Sixthly, continue to improve the quality of situation watching, research, and consultation.

At the event, delegates met and discussed. They enjoyed traditional Vietnamese music and food during the Lunar New Year.
