Nearly 300 IZs formed in Vietnam

By September 2015, Vietnam had 299 formed industrial zones (IZs) with a total natural area of nearly 84,000 hectares, reported the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s Department for Economic Zones Management.

Of this, industrial land area eligible for rent reached 56,000 hectares, accounting for 66% of the total. 212 IZs were put into operation with natural area of 60,000 hectares and 87 IZs are in the process of compensation and premise clearance and under basic construction with natural area of 24,000 hectares.

Nearly 300 IZs formed in Vietnam

From the start of the year, numerous IZs were shaped and expanded, including Thanh Hai (Ninh Thuan), Chu Trinh (Cao Bang), Chan Hung (Vinh Phuc), Mong Hoa (Hoa Binh), Dong Nam (Quang Tri), Dong Nam (Nghe An) and Nghi Son (Thanh Hoa).

Also according to the Department for Economic Zones Management, investment attraction in IZs and economic zones showed positive growth. In the nine months, 379 FDI projects registered a total capital of over USD7.1 billion and 263 projects had an additional capital of over USD1.56 billion.

So far, IZs have attracted 5,946 FDI projects with a total registered capital of USD95.9 billion, of which, total implemented capital reached over USD55 billion, 59% of the total.

Meanwhile, economic zones lured 302 FDI projects, capitalized with more than USD39.5 billion. Of this, over USD16.5 billion were disbursed, 42% of the total./.
