New Exhibition Promotes International Cooperation in Defense Industry

The second Vietnam International Defense Exhibition is expected to take place from December 19-22, 2024 at Gia Lam airport, Hanoi.

At the press conference held on January 26, the representative of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense informed about the second Vietnam International Defense Exhibition that is expected to take place from December 19-22, 2024 at Gia Lam Airport (Phuc Dong ward, Long Bien district, Hanoi).

The exhibition aims to share achievements and experiences in research, production, exploitation, and use of weapons and technical equipment and promote cooperation in the field of defense industry between Vietnam and participating countries.

The first exhibition was held in 2022, attracting many units and enterprises to participate in introducing modern products and technologies applied to defense and security to potential customers.

According to the representative of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, the 2024 Exhibition will be organized on a larger scale and expected to attract the participation of many domestic and foreign delegations, agencies, and businesses.

"Peace, Friendship, and Cooperation for Mutual Development"

This is the theme of the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024, through which to convey the message of peace-loving, demonstrating the spirit of Vietnam being a friend with all countries in the world, being a responsible and trustworthy partner in the international community, wishing to expand foreign defense relations, multilateralization, and ready to cooperate for peace, stability, and mutual development.

The 2024 Exhibition is an important defense event, contributing to promoting international cooperation in the defense industry; receiving and transferring technology; learning and sharing experiences in management, production, acquisition and transfer of advanced scientific and technological advances to upgrade and modernize the defense industry; grasping the world's technological development trends in designing and manufacturing weapons and technical equipment for combat in high-tech warfare; promoting and introducing Vietnamese defense industry products.

This exhibition is expected to contribute to the process of promoting trade, finding partners and potential markets to participate in the production, supply, and export chain of Vietnam's defense industry products, introducing and promoting the country, people of Vietnam, and the Vietnam People's Army to the world. Thereby, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's political position and voice in the international arena, accumulating experience and lessons practice to be ready to deploy the next international defense exhibitions, aiming to build Vietnam's defense brand.

According to Major General Le Quang Tuyen, Deputy Director of the General Department of Defense Industry (Ministry of National Defense), the exhibition will be held on a total area of ​​about 100,000 m2, of which the indoor display area is 15,000 m2 and the outdoor exhibition area is over 20,000 m2. Businesses will have the opportunity to introduce outstanding products, technologies, and solutions on national defense and security to the armed forces of Vietnam and other countries in the region.

At the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024, domestic and international defense enterprises will display and introduce combat vehicles, technological solutions, weapons, and equipment used for all forces such as navy, army, air defense - air force, cyber warfare, and technical logistics equipment.

Expected display areas include air defense systems and equipment (aircraft: fighters, helicopters, training, unmanned; missiles: air-to-air, air defense, shoulder-mounted air defense; artillery and anti-aircraft missile complexes; other air defense and air force equipment).

Naval systems and equipment include submarines, warships, auxiliary ships, unmanned ships; reconnaissance equipment, underground observation, sonar; torpedo; land-to-sea missiles, sea-to-sea missiles; and other naval equipment.

Army systems and equipment include infantry weapons, fire weapons; infantry, artillery, and anti-tank ammunition; day and night observation and shooting equipment; ground artillery, self-propelled artillery; multiple launch rocket artillery system, anti-aircraft artillery; surface-to-surface missiles, anti-tank missiles; tanks, armored vehicles, troop transport vehicles, military transport vehicles, motorcycles, engineering equipment.

Security systems and equipment include biometrics; border control and security; civil defense systems and equipment; customs and immigration; anti-terrorism and internal state security system; systems, equipment and services for rescue and disaster relief; law enforcement; non-lethal weapons; optics and optoelectronics; protective tools and equipment; safety, rescue and relief systems; cyber security crime prevention and control system...

In addition, the Exhibition also displays communication equipment products; equipment for preventing and combating chemical weapons; weapons and equipment for special forces radar, and fire control; electronic warfare equipment, UAV prevention and control; reconnaissance and combat robots in the air, ground, surface and underwater; C5I systems; cyber warfare system; logistics equipment and soldier protection; training and simulation system...

In the exhibition, Vietnam will display products researched and manufactured by Vietnam's defense industry from units under the General Department of Defense Industry, General Department of Engineering, Air Defense - Air Force, the Navy, the Tank and Armor Corps, the Chemical Corps, the Communications Corps, the Institute of Military Science and Technology, the Military Technical Academy, the Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center, the Military Industry – Telecommunications Group... Many displayed products are outstanding and modern weapons and technical equipment that are used by the Vietnam People's Army.

Demonstration of fighter and commando aircraft

One of the highlights of the 2024 Exhibition will be the opening ceremony featuring a welcome flight by the Vietnam People's Army Air Force and a demonstration by special forces combined with sniffer dogs.

Within the framework of the Exhibition, there will be many activities and events to exchange and promote cooperation between agencies, units, and businesses; seminars on military techniques; activities to introduce economic and defense achievements; and unique cultural and artistic performances of Vietnam.

Technical seminars with many selected specialized topics will be a practical opportunity for manufacturers of weapons, defense, and security equipment to introduce their products and technological solutions to the public and listen to users' needs about the technical and technological challenges they are facing to provide solutions to improve and upgrade products and services jointly.

At the same time, connection activities between forces, defense cooperation agencies, and domestic and international military trade agencies with manufacturers and suppliers of spare parts, components, and semi-finished products will contribute to establishing partnerships for mutual development, bringing benefits to all parties.

It is expected that over 140 international delegations from 50 countries will be invited to join this Exhibition. High-level international delegations include ministers, deputy ministers, and national defense and security forces commanders.

Domestically, the Ministry of National Defense invites leaders of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly, departments, ministries, branches, leaders of Hanoi city and localities, revolutionary veterans, and people... to attend the Exhibition. In addition, the exhibition will be participated by Heads of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, leaders and commanders of military branches, generals, and departments, military regions, corps, academies, schools, research institutes... throughout the army.

In 2022, the first Vietnam International Defense Exhibition received the attention, support, and participation of a large number of management agencies and international and domestic delegates, with an indoor and outdoor display area of about 25,000 m2. There were 175 participating companies from 31 countries; 6 national pavilions; 25,000 specialized visitors; 300 domestic delegations; and 52 international delegations. Within the framework of the event, 80 bilateral meetings and 15 technical presentation sessions took place.
