Nguyen Du bilingual language school in Vientiane launches new school year
(VNF) - The Nguyen Du Lao-Vietnamese bilingual language school in Vientiane, Laos, started the new 2017-2018 school year with an official ceremony held on September 8th.
The school currently has 91 teachers and more than 1,700 students at all levels had enrolled this school year.

Officers from Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos, the capital’s Department of Education and Sport and the Vietnamese Embassy in Lao as well as representatives of the Vietnamese community in Vientiane attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Pham Xuan Phan, the school’s head teacher said that he hopes the school will have a successful year, adding that the school has strong attachment with the development of the overseas Vietnamese community in Vientiane for over the past 51 years.
In order to implement the guideline of the two countries on building Nguyen Du to become a high quality school, and a symbol of the traditional friendship, special solidarity and effective cooperation in the field of education and human resources between Vietnam and Laos, he affirmed that the school will continue improving the quality of its staff and renovating its teaching methods.
The school will continue to nurture in its students the love for their homeland and respect for the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos, he added.

The school is planning to teach mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology in Vietnamese with the support of the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training.
Formerly the Viet Kieu (Overseas Vietnamese) Nguyen Du School, the school was re-named the Nguyen Du Bilingual School in 2014. It has classes from preschool to senior high education levels.
The school, run by the Association of Vietnamese in Vientiane under the watch of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, which teaches in both Vietnamese and Lao languages under an agreement between the governments of the two countries./.
