Northern region to experience first cold snap of the year

Temperatures in several areas in the north will fall by 10 degrees as the region sets for a strong cold spell coming from October 16th.

The cold snap already affected the northeastern region and several locations in the northwestern.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the cold snap will continue to spread further in the northern region. Combining with the effect of Storm Khanun, provinces in the northern region will see heavy rains on October 16th and 17th.

The temperatures in the mountainous areas may dip down to 16-19 degrees at night. Hanoi also had rain on October 16th and 17th with night temperatures of 19-21 C0.

Vo Van Hoa, director of the Red River Delta Regional Hydro-Meteorological Centre said, "This is the first cold snap of the year but it will not be the coldest as the temperature will only be around 23-24
C0. However, it will cause more widespread rain in the north, especially the northeastern areas."
