What Olympics on TV

NBC Universal has exclusive rights to the Olympics (including the Olympics soccer schedule). On the English-language side, no decisions have been reached yet regarding the channels that will broadcast the game. With the time difference between Japan and the United States, most of the games will start during the early morning hours for soccer fans on the East Coast of the United States. Despite the early kickoffs, many of the games are expected to be shown on television.

For the coverage on NBC Sports and/or Peacock, the soccer commentators featured will include Arlo White, Derek Rae, Lisa Byington, Mark Followill, and Jenn Hildreth, according to World Soccer Talk.

Telemundo will be the Spanish-language provider offering extensive coverage of the Olympic soccer matches in Español. Across the entire Olympics tournament this summer, Telemundo Deportes will be presenting 300 hours of live competitions and daily recap specials, while Telemundo and Universo will offer at least 12 hours of intense live sports coverage throughout the night and early morning schedules.

What Olympics without cable

Peacock

For those who have cut the cord on cable TV, NBC will air Olympic events across three other platforms: Peacock, NBC Sports, and NBC’s Olympics website. Peacock is NBC’s connected streaming service. Most Olympic coverage will be free to watch on the platform with any account, according to its website. Peacock offers a 7-day free trial then costs $4.99 per month for a Premium account that has access to all content, according to Deseret News.

Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, or Android TV

If you don’t subscribe to cable but you do pay for Amazon Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, or Android TV, you should be able to connect to the official Olympic Channel app for free through your device or your platform’s mobile or phone app, at no extra charge and without a separate subscription. According to Olympics.com, “The official Olympic Channel app is available on connected TV devices for Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and the Roku platform (as well as apps for mobile and tablets)… for free and without a subscription.”

Meanwhile, Olympics2021info.com states, “If you use Amazon Fire TV, you need to download and install the Olympic Channel app to enjoy the content. The collection of programming includes the Rewind of PyeongChang 2018, which features top moments including the opening and closing, documentaries, and many more.”
