The meeting attracted the participation of VGInetwork members who are currently working at technical universities such as TU Dortmund and TU Hamburg, and large corporations such as Siemens, Volkswagen, German railway, as well as overseas businessmen in West Germany, VOV reported.

Addressing the event, Consul General Le Quang Long emphasized the important role of overseas intellectuals in Germany and suggested VGInetwork make practical contributions to Vietnam’s priority fields including green growth, renewable energy development, and sustainable development research.

He expressed his delight at the positive developments of VGInetwork in recent times, noting the agency has expanded the network of experts, actively shared and transferred knowledge and technologies to serve the expatriate community in Germany, and supported representative offices in the area, contributing to promoting scientific and educational cooperation between the two countries.

Professor, Academician Nguyen Xuan Thinh, president of VGInetwork, presented a report on the establishment, achievements and development visions of the agency, as well as the potential for science and technology cooperation between Vietnam and Germany in the fields of sustainable development research, management of resources, land, water and environmental protection, and climate change response.

Prof. Dr. Do Thanh Trung, founder of VGInetwork, presented a report on renewable energy development, Germany’s national energy transition strategy and gave some opinions related to green growth in Vietnam.

He put forward an initiative on the establishment of the Vietnam - Germany Energy Hub under VGInetwork to connect Vietnamese and German managers, businesses and institutions toward a sustainable green economy.

Other scientists shared Germany’s experience in renewable energy development, environmental protection and climate change response, and affirmed their institutions are ready to boost cooperation with Vietnam in these fields.

In a recent interview with the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), Vietnamese Ambassador to Germany Vu Quang Minh said the Vietnam-Germany strategic partnership is growing across various fields, and there is room for both sides to further bolster the ties with many new opportunities.

Regarding bilateral partnership in politics, diplomacy, security-defence, Minh expressed his belief that the friendly and trustful relationship between the two countries will continue to be reinforced and promoted to become more practical and comprehensive.

He said that in the time to come, the two sides will work together to complete and implement a strategic plan of action for the 2022-2024 period, while increasing delegation exchanges after two years of interruption due to the Covid-19, and boosting the efficiency of consultation and cooperation mechanisms such as the strategic partnership at the deputy Foreign Minister level, the Joint Committee on economic cooperation, and governmental-level consultations on development cooperation, and dialogue on law-governed state.

The two countries will further strengthen parliamentarian cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral aspects, while promoting regular dialogues between the Communist Party of Vietnam and Germany’s ruling and political parties, he said./.
