Contributing to Covid-19 Fight in Czech

Bich Thuy, head of the Vietnamese Women's Union in the Czech Republic and member of the Standing Committee of the Vietnamese Association, said that the Vietnamese Association lead other associations, and its pyramidal structure has a good mutual effect, strengthening the leadership role. This makes a great contribution to helping the Vietnamese in the Czech Republic become an ethnic minority.

According to Ta Pham Bich Thuy, during Covid-19, overseas Vietnamese strictly followed the instructions of medical organizations and believed in the Czech Republic's pandemic prevention measures.

They have sewn and bought hundreds of thousands of masks to give to hospitals, police, nursing homes and people in the Czech Republic. They also donated money and tons of essential anti-pandemic supplies to the government, hospitals and organizations fighting the Covid-19.

Those responsible actions were appreciated by the Czech government and local people. The Central Committee of the Vietnamese Association, the Vietnamese Association at the provincial and city levels, many individuals and groups have received letters of thanks from committees at all levels, hospitals, ministries, branches and state-level agencies.

In June 2021, the unprecedented tornado in the Czech Republic destroyed houses and properties of people, including Vietnamese families. The Central Committee of the Vietnamese Association, the Vietnamese Association in Brno and South Moravia called on the community to offer support.

Nearly 1.5 million Koruna (US$70,454) and necessary supplies, food, materials for home repair, quick response rescue in 4 trucks were sent immediately to help people overcome the consequences.

The governor of South Morava region thanked the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic. The Czech people were moved, and the Czech media reported on the support of the Vietnamese.

Ta Pham Bich Thuy said the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic had contributed to the development of the host country.

Overseas Vietnamese look towards homeland

The Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic is always looking to their homeland. In 2020, the Central region suffered from floods and landslides. In less than two weeks, more than VND2 billion was donated through the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic and immediately sent to the seven central provinces of Vietnam.

When the Covid-19 pandemic broke out in Vietnam, the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic organized donations in the community, provided medical equipment such as protective clothing, masks, body temperature monitors, and cash with a value of nearly VND500 million.

During the fourth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in Vietnam, responding to the call of the Prime Minister, within four days the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic raised VND500 million and sent it to the Vietnam vaccine fund.

The contribution of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic to support the fight against Covid-19 in Vietnam was spread in the whole community supporting tens of thousands of families, as well as hundreds of large and small organizations.

Ta Pham Bich Thuy also said that the leader of the Vietnamese Association had contacted Czech ministers, members of the government and parties to ask for vaccine support for Vietnam. They mobilized the Czech Government to support Vietnam with 250,800 doses of vaccine.
