Overseas Vietnamese Expect Vietnam's Economic Recovery and Development

At the “Xuan Que Huong” (Homeland Spring) program 2022, from January 21-22, overseas Vietnamese shared their pride in the country's achievements during the Covid-19 pandemic. They also expressed their desire to continue contributing to the homeland, and hoped that Vietnam's economy would soon recover and develop strongly in 2022.

Pride of overseas Vietnamese

Expressing joy when returning home to attend the Homeland Spring program, Buddhist nun Thich Nu Gioi Tanh, head of the Vietnamese Buddhists' Association in the Republic of Korea (RoK), said that although the Covid-19 had a strong impact on many countries around the world, including Vietnam, the Vietnamese community in Korea share the same pride with the country's socio-economic development achievements in recent years.

Buddhist nun Thich Nu Gioi Tanh said that overseas Vietnamese in Korea particularly and overseas Vietnamese around the world always look to their homeland with practical contributions. They together with the Party and State, support people's welfare, and in the Covid-19's fight.

Overseas Vietnamese in Australia Nguyen Ngoc My said: "Our country has strengthened the spirit of solidarity, overcome difficulties together, and become a bright spot in the fight against the pandemic. Although economic growth has not reached the set plan, the country's stable situation is appreciated by international friends. That success has a small contribution from overseas Vietnamese."

According to Nguyen Viet Trieu, a Vietnamese in Poland, there are currently about 30,000 Vietnamese living, studying and working in Poland. Over the past two years, the Polish community has made contributions to the Covid-19's fight in the country. This is the first Vietnamese community to send masks, vitamins, and disinfecting water to Son Loi commune, Vinh Phuc province, and Bach Mai Hospital for pandemic prevention and control.

“We are happy to contribute to the prevention and control of the pandemic in the country. The overseas Vietnamese community in Poland also contributed money to support the Covid-19 vaccine fund, support the people in the Central region to overcome the consequences of storms and floods, and donated money to doctors and nurses," Nguyen Viet Trieu said.

Strengthening economic relations

First Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Switzerland, Dr. Philipp Rosler, former vice chancellor of Germany, said that the Vietnamese community in Switzerland and in the world always looks towards the homeland, making efforts to contribute to the country's economic development.

Dr. Philipp Rosler, a German of Vietnamese origin, said that the mission of Vietnam's first Honorary Consul in Switzerland was to strengthen economic relations between Vietnam and Switzerland. It is expected that in March 2022, he will visit Vietnam with Swiss and German businesses to promote bilateral trade relations, and seek direct investment opportunities in Vietnam. At the same time, he is looking for more opportunities for Vietnamese students to study in Germany and Switzerland.

Dr. Philipp Rosler said he had been to Vietnam many times, but returning during the traditional Lunar New Year of the nation brought many emotions.

“I can feel and learn a lot about the culture and society of the country, especially about the sacred meaning of family affection in Vietnam. After all the experience, I feel like I've returned home, back to my hometown."

Philipp Rosler believes that up to now, the essential task of the country is economic reconstruction. It is necessary to strengthen economic relations as well as build new partnerships with countries around the world.

“I appreciate Vietnam's economic development potential. The whole world is interested in Vietnam, because it has a young population, is well-trained and has good entrepreneurial spirit. One of the factors that Vietnam can focus on is technology transfer, especially in the health sector. Vietnam should consider the possibility for Vietnamese students to join online courses and learn about European medical technologies," said Dr. Philipp Rosler.

Overseas Vietnamese Hong Shurany proposed to bring Israel's high-tech agriculture to Vietnam. Localities in Vietnam can work closely with Israel to create new solutions in agriculture for soil and seeds, on the basis of applying new technologies to create high yields.

"In Israel, the Government always accompanies businesses, especially agricultural businesses. For Vietnam's agriculture to have breakthroughs, I hope there will be more support policies from the country as well as the solidarity of the expatriates," said Hong Shurany.
