After years of residency, the old boarding house seriously degraded and no longer fit for the children, with small, uncomfortable rooms and damaged roof which leaked during rainy season. Realising the children’s need, Plan International Vietnam through funding from Plan International Hong Kong worked with the local authorities and people to rebuild the boarding house.
After three months of construction, a new boarding house with five rooms, a water supply system, a toilet, protecting barriers, a playground and other necessary furniture have been completed. This major change will help the parents be more assured when they send their children to school. When summer ends, the boarding house will be ready to welcome the children.
The total cost of construction and facilities is VND 1.1 billion (USD 48,400), donated by Hong Kong donors. The project is part of Plan International Hong Kong in Hoang Su Phi district, Ha Giang province.
On June 6th, Plan International Vietnam undertook the pre-acceptance tests and handed over the house to the school and the commune authorities./.
