President Vo Van Thuong Receives Ambassador of Bangladesh Samina Naz

At the Presidential Palace, President Vo Van Thuong on August 15 received Samina Naz, Ambassador of Bangladesh, at the end of her term in Vietnam. The President suggested that Vietnam and Bangladesh step up all-level delegation exchanges, thus strengthening comprehensive cooperation.

At the meeting, the President congratulated Ambassador Samina Naz on successfully completing her six-year working term in Vietnam. He highly appreciates the Ambassador's effective contributions in the effort to deepen the Vietnam-Bangladesh friendship and cooperation.

The President believes that, regardless of her position, the Ambassador will always be a close friend, constantly contributing to and cultivating the relationship between Vietnam and Bangladesh.

In 2023, the two countries celebrated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Ambassador Samina Naz expressed her delight at the good development of the relationship between Vietnam and Bangladesh in all fields. Trade turnover between the two countries is about US$1.5 billion.

Along with recent delegation exchange activities, the Ambassador believed that the two countries' relations will develop strongly in the coming time, especially in the field of tourism, including spiritual tourism, and Buddhism.

Ambassador Samina Naz believes that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the country and the people of Vietnam will continue to achieve even greater achievements in the future.

With a deep love for Vietnam, Samina Naz said she will always keep a good image and feelings about the country and Vietnamese people, "bringing Vietnam in her heart." She wishes to become a goodwill ambassador of Vietnam in the positions that she will undertake in the coming time.

President Vo Van Thuong emphasized that Vietnam and Bangladesh have a long-standing traditional relationship. Bangladesh is one of the few countries in South Asia that established early diplomatic relations with Vietnam 50 years ago.

The President said that Vietnam and Bangladesh have many similarities, especially in economic development. The two countries focus on attracting foreign investment on the basis of abundant human resources, so they can share experiences and cooperate.

The State President agreed with the Ambassador's comments on the good development of the two countries' relations.

Bilateral trade quadrupled in the past 10 years, and the two sides are working towards a vision of US$2 billion in the coming years.

The President suggested the two countries strengthen cooperation, especially the exchange of delegations at all levels to promote comprehensive cooperation.

President Vo Van Thuong wished Bangladesh a successful organization of the upcoming general election, thereby promoting stronger cooperation with Vietnam in all fields, especially trade and investment.

The two countries strive to achieve the target of US$2 billion in bilateral trade turnover earlier than expected, promoting exchanges in other fields.
