Promoting Hungary-Vietnam people-to-people diplomacy

After coming to Hungary to take on her new position in early June, Vietnam Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Thao held meetings with the Association of Vietnamese in Hungary and the Hungary-Vietnam Friendship Association.
The meeting with the Association of Vietnamese in Hungary took place on June 2. At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Thao expressed her honor to be the newly-appointed Ambassador in the "beautiful and hospitable Hungary." She said she was pleased to know that the Vietnamese community in Hungary, though only consisting of around 5,000 people, was united and has held many events in Hungary and throughout Europe.

She thanked the association for the many meaningful activities to promote friendship, the tradition of solidarity, and mutual affection between the Vietnamese and the Hungarian people. The ambassador hopes to continue coordinating with the association in the coming time.
Permanent Vice President of the Association of Vietnamese in Hungary, Phung Kim San informed the ambassador about the association's organizational structure, annual activities and achievements. San also made a number of proposals to enhance cooperation between the embassy and the association.
Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Thao suggested the association continues to be for friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary through discussions and working sessions with specific member associations such as the business association, the intellectual association, the women's union, the student union, the elderly association and the veterans association.

She said she wished that the Vietnamese people in Hungary consider the embassy a home to build a united, strong community, well integrated with the host country, and preserving the national identity.
On June 9, the ambassador held a meeting with Lieutenant General Botz László, president of the Hungarian-Vietnam Friendship Association, and other members of the association.
On behalf of the association, László informed the ambassador about the association's important milestones and recent activities. He also spoke of upcoming events to promote Hungarian-Vietnamese people-to-people diplomacy, contributing to Hungarian-Vietnamese friendship.

Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Thao sent greetings from Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, president of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), and Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Cong Tac, president of the Vietnam-Hungary Friendship Association, to László and the Hungary-Vietnam Friendship Association.
Thao expressed her sincere gratitude to the association's affection toward the country and people of Vietnam, affirming that the Hungary-Vietnam Friendship Association was an important bridge to boost mutual understanding and trust between the two countries and peoples. The ambassador said she would continue working closely with the association to hold activities in Hungary and Vietnam to meet the wishes and aspirations of the two peoples.
