A large number of young people are eager to join blood donation.

The festival, which promoted young doctors’ activities to raise communities’ health, was one of the key activities of young people in Quang Ninh province to mark the125th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, and continue the campaigns focusing on social welfare for communities by the Vietnam Youth Federation and the Vietnam Young Doctors’ Association.

Under the festival, voluntary blood donation, free healthcare, dissemination on the prevention of hand-foot-mouth and other diseases, as well as the prevention of drowning were held.

Children are instructed how to adequately wash hands with soaps.

The festival attracted 250 people donating blood, collecting 150 units. Together with it, young doctors provided free medical check-ups and medicine for 200 people and poor children with a capital of VND10 million. On this occasion, the Vietnam Youth Federation Committees at the central, Quang Ninh provincial and Uong Bi city gave presents, including milk, shower cream and soaps, worth VND20 million, to poor children.

Similar festivals will also be held in other localities, including Cam Pha, Van Don, Dong Trieu, Quang Yen, Tien Yen, Hoanh Bo and Mong Cai, featuring free healthcare and presents to those in remote and disadvantaged regions; providing reproductive health and family planning knowledge and consultancy as well as presents to female workers in industrial zones; providing training courses on basic first-aid methods to teachers; giving nutrition consultancy to parents of pre-schools’ and primary schools’ children; organising voluntary blood donation; disseminating disease prevention information; and making debut young doctors’ clubs at district level.

The festival of young doctors collects 485 units of blood across the province.

On the provincial scale, the festival of young doctors gave free healthcare and medicine to 1,450 poor people and children worth over VND60 million, collected 485 units of blood and instructed over 22,000 pupils how to efficiently wash hands with soaps./.
