On November 10, the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary and the leaders of Zalaegerszeg City jointly organized the inauguration ceremony of the project to expand and embellish the landscape of the park with the monument of President Ho Chi Minh in Zalaegerszeg City - the only monument to Uncle Ho in the Central-Eastern Europe region.

Attending the ceremony were Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Thao, Deputy Mayor of Zalaegerszeg City Zoltan Bali, representative of Balasz Gora Local Council, President of Socialist Party of Zalaegerszeg City Fodroczy Tamas, delegation of CPV Central Committee's Commission for Mass Mobilization led by Deputy Head of the Committee Nguyen Lam, Chairman of Hungary-Vietnam Friendship Association Laszlo Botz.

In her speech, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Thao was moved to share that President Ho Chi Minh was a genius leader of the Vietnamese people, who sacrificed his whole life for the independence and freedom of Vietnam.

Therefore, the expansion and restoration of the Ho Chi Minh monument in Zalaegerszeg City is especially important to the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary to honor the great contributions of beloved Uncle Ho.

The Ambassador expressed his sincere thanks for the attention and support of the government and people of Zalaegerszeg City, close friends of Vietnam, who have always cared for and preserved the Ho Chi Minh monument for nearly 50 years.

In particular, with the support of the Zalaegerszeg city government, the Nghe Tinh Association of Fellow Countrymen, the enthusiasm of Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Hungary and many individuals who actively contributed, the project to expand the campus and embellish the landscape of the Ho Chi Minh monument was completed early on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and before the activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Hungary diplomatic relations (1950-2025), the 135th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).

On this occasion, the Ambassador said goodbye to Hungary with only a few weeks left until the end of her term. The Ambassador said that she will always keep in his heart the beautiful memories and unforgettable experiences about the country, people, friends of Hungary and the Vietnamese community in Hungary.

After proudly reviewing the history of the two countries' relations over the past 70 years and revering President Ho Chi Minh's iconic quote, "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom," Deputy Mayor of Zalaegerszeg Zoltan Bali emphasized the similarities in the history of the two peoples of Vietnam and Hungary, both fighting and winning with patriotism and national pride for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

He announced that the city recognized Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Thao as an "honorary citizen" for her valuable contributions to Zalaegerszeg, especially in strengthening relations and promoting and introducing Vietnamese culture to the locality.

Chairman of the Hungary - Vietnam Friendship Association László Botz emphasized that the monument of Ho Chi Minh in Zalaegerszeg is a special meeting point for Vietnamese people in Hungary. The association highly appreciates the support of the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary and the leaders of Zalaegerszeg, thanks to which the square has been beautified. This is also a way for the Hungarian people to show their respect for President Ho Chi Minh.

After the inauguration ceremony of the project to expand and embellish the landscape of the Ho Chi Minh Monument Park, delegates offered flowers, commemorated and paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh and immersed themselves in the passionate and profound songs and melodies about President Ho Chi Minh.
