Russia’s Saint Petersburg Present Tourism Potential at ITE HCMC 2023

Russia’s second-largest city Saint Petersburg presented its tourism projects, as well as strengthened cooperation with representatives of the industry under the International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City 2023.

Participate in the International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City 2023, St. Petersburg's booths and events introduced tourism potential to connect businesses and build tours to attract visitors from Vietnam.

The 17th International Travel Expo Ho Chi Minh City 2023 (ITE HCMC 2023) just took place in Ho Chi Minh City with a series of trade promotion activities to look for strategies to develop Vietnam’s tourism industry.

The expo attracted over 400 domestic and international exhibitors while 199 international buyers were invited from 42 countries and territories which represent Vietnam’s key and potential inbound tourism markets.

The Booth of St. Petersburg impresses visitors with attractive images of tourist destinations, as well as artistic performances by Russian artists. St. Petersburg also organizes trade activities and connects businesses in Vietnam to build tourist routes to St. Petersburg, as well as several other destinations in Russia.

Due to its unique location and well-developed transport accessibility, the Northern Capital of Russia is also justifiably considered an ideal starting point for traveling in Russia. Thus, the authors of the project "Two Cities – a Million Impressions" offer tourists to combine visiting two Russian megalopolises St. Petersburg and Moscow in one trip.

At the same time as part of the "Silver Necklace of Russia", travelers from St. Petersburg will be able to travel to northwest regions of Russia to get acquainted with the unique monuments of culture and history of the Russian North.

St. Petersburg continues to develop as a gastronomic capital, attracting culinary enthusiasts and becoming an important destination for gastronomic tourism. The city offers visitors the unique opportunity to experience the culture and history of the city through its cuisine.

Alexander Fedotenkov from AtomExpo Company said that currently, Vietnamese citizens traveling to Russia can apply for an electronic visa (e-visa) on the website with a quick and convenient procedure within 4 days and no need for prior confirmation of invitation. St. Petersburg can also be a starting point for a tour around Russia, as the "Silver Necklace of Russia" and "Two Cities - a Million Impressions" tourist routes connect St. Petersburg and Moscow.

At the ITE HCMC 2023, St. Petersburg and representatives of the city's tourism industry introduced four-season tourism opportunities in Russia's northern destinations, from traditional tours to new destinations. In addition, many promising types of tourism are being developed in St. Petersburg, such as industrial, scientific and educational tourism, medical and event tourism.

St. Petersburg's side said that in recent years, tourism development cooperation has been promoted between Russia and Vietnam. Currently, the airlines of the two countries, with the active support of the city, are making efforts to negotiate to deploy regular and charter flights to Vietnam. This is expected to contribute significantly to increasing tourist flows and facilitating visitors to St. Petersburg.

According to Russia’s Federal State Statistics Service, about 572,000 Russians visited Vietnam in 2019, up 8% from the previous year while the number of Vietnamese visitors to Russia rose by 9% year-on-year to 59,000.
