On China's social media platform WeChat, user @Wobuchiqiang expressed:

"I saw large truck drivers shielding motorbikes from the wind as they traveled together. This scene truly moved me. This action clearly demonstrates the spirit of mutual support within the Vietnamese community."

Another user, @Keaizheshenfan, also shared admiration: "Although Typhoon Yagi was fierce, it could not blow away the warmth and hope in the hearts of the Vietnamese people. They faced the storm together, protecting their homeland."

These moments continued to spread on Douyin (also known as TikTok in China). User @Zhongyuedatong posted a video of Hanoi residents cleaning up after the storm.

Another user, @L, commented: "The sight of people standing shoulder to shoulder during Typhoon Yagi evoked deep emotions. When a motorbike couldn’t move through a flooded road, a few people immediately came to help push it. On storm-ravaged streets, they worked together to clear branches and debris to restore traffic flow. These small acts illuminated the kindness that shines in times of hardship."

People on other platforms were also impressed with Vietnam's community spirit. On Instagram, user @Yourtubudd shared a video showing drivers assisting motorbikes across a bridge in strong winds, accompanied by the caption: "Typhoon Yagi may bring challenges, but today we witness the true essence of Vietnamese culture: unity and resilience."

Meanwhile, user @Prisccmcadam wrote: "This brought tears to my eyes. We were in Hanoi and witnessed the solidarity of the people here as the sun rose after the storm. Truly incredible!"

User @dankeshen_bitte commented: "This is a lesson for the entire world on how a nation should act in adversity. I have immense respect for you all."

Ray Kuschert, an Australian who has lived in Ho Chi Minh City for over a decade, shared: "In moments that seem the toughest, I see people coming together with community spirit and compassion to weather the storm. Everyone works hand in hand; the community pauses their work to help their fellow citizens, and some even risk their lives to save strangers. This is the Vietnamese culture that I deeply admire. I hope this message spreads to thousands facing unprecedented challenges: Foreigners living in Vietnam are in awe of your resilience and determination in the face of storms."

"Recovery will take time, but with the Vietnamese spirit, not a single moment will be wasted. Every house will be repaired, schools will reopen, hospitals will continue to quietly heal patients, and Northern Vietnam will recover in the way they know best: silently and with great effort. I feel proud to be part of this community and culture, where people always care for and quietly support each other through hardships."
