South Korea business travelers to Vietnam exempted from 14-day quarantine

The agreement will go into effect on Jan. 1 and will allow visitors on short-term business trips to avoid the quarantines, Reuters cited South Korea’s Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement.
However, prior to arrival, the entrants must obtain proof of negative tests for SARS-CoV-2, which cause the coronavirus disease, and still need to be medically examined and monitored, Vietnamplus reported.
Following their entries into Vietnam and the RoK, they will still have to be tested for the coronavirus, while their health status will be frequently checked. They are only allowed to engage in activities according to agendas that have been registered to and approved by the host country’s authorities.

Vietnamese and Korean relevant agencies will provide detailed guidelines on the eligible entries of, and requirements and regulations on the short-term entry procedure between the two sides, the foreign ministry noted.
South Korea already exempts similar short-term business visitors from all countries from having to complete the quarantine. South Korea has made similar arrangements with China, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, and Indonesia. South Korea used aggressive testing and tracing to control its coronavirus outbreaks, but in recent weeks a new wave of infections has led to daily tallies not seen in months. Thanks to a targeted testing system and a strict, centralized quarantine program, Vietnam has kept its virus tally to a low 1,365 cases and 35 deaths, allowing it to resume economic activities earlier than much of the rest of Asia. |
Data from Korcham Vietnam shows that over 3,000 experts and their family members have been granted permission to enter Vietnam for work since March after Vietnam imposed travel restrictions to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
