General Secretary and President To Lam's recent visit to the UN marked his first in-person attendance at the General Assembly. The trip underscored Vietnam's commitment to multilateralism and highlighted its proactive role in addressing global challenges.
His subsequent state visit to Cuba opened a new chapter in bilateral relations, reaffirming the strong bond between the two socialist nations.

Vietnam commits to global cooperation
With nearly 50 bilateral and multilateral activities, the working trip of General Secretary and President To Lam and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation to attend the Summit of the Future, the General Debate of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, and work in the United States was a great success, achieving all the set goals and tasks.
Through the important statements of the General Secretary and President, strong and clear messages were conveyed at the highest level about the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress.
It expressed Vietnam's aspirations in the era of national development, demonstrating the respect and strong support for multilateralism, international law and the United Nations Charter. Vietnam also shared its views and, together with other countries, proposed important policy directions to address global challenges.
The statements of the General Secretary and President at multilateral forums during the exciting September days in New York showed that Vietnam has actively participated in the common work of the United Nations for international peace and security.
Vietnam has always persistently promoted dialogue, reduced tensions and confrontations, sought sustainable and comprehensive solutions to conflicts, and promoted compliance with international law. Vietnam also pledged to effectively contribute to common efforts to build a peaceful world, develop equally, for a prosperous and happy life for humanity.

This working trip of General Secretary and President To Lam once again reaffirmed at the highest level Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification of relations, clearly demonstrating the image of Vietnam as an active, responsible member with the capacity to shoulder the common tasks of the international community.
New milestone in Vietnam-Cuba solidarity
After concluding a busy working visit to the United States, on the evening of September 25th, a Vietnam Airlines flight carrying the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by General Secretary and President To Lam flew along the US East Coast southward, crossing the Caribbean Sea to Cuba.
At the talks and meetings, the leaders of Vietnam and Cuba expressed their determination to continue fostering the traditional solidarity, special friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries to new heights, for the cause of development and socialist construction, for the benefit of the people of both countries, for peace, cooperation, and development in each region and the world.

Both sides also reaffirmed the special friendship, cooperation, and traditional solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba as a symbol of the era and a priceless asset of the two Parties and peoples. They determined to continue inheriting and promoting the lasting legacy of President Ho Chi Minh and the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, pioneers in preserving and promoting the special, traditional friendship and cooperation that binds the Vietnamese and Cuban peoples.
On this occasion, the two sides also issued a Joint Statement of 18 points, reflecting the consistent views of the Parties, States, and peoples of both countries on their determination to elevate the Vietnam-Cuba relationship to a new stage of substantive and sustainable development. The visit has demonstrated the high regard, deep affection, and unwavering support of the Communist Party, State, and people of Vietnam for Cuba’s noble revolutionary cause.
The fraternal friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba, forged and tested in the flames of revolutionary struggle, is a precious asset for the people of both countries on the path to building and defending socialist fatherlands. With this invaluable asset, Vietnam and Cuba will continue to cherish and write new chapters, strengthening the friendship, solidarity, and cooperation between the two countries, thereby making more contributions to the cause of building and defending the fatherland of each country, to peace, stability, and development in each region and the world.
