Students in Quang Nam Learn More about National Sea and Islands
Squadron 21 of Coast Guard Region 2 Command, in collaboration with the Quang Nam province's Nui Thanh district Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission, held the “I love national sea and islands” contest for local students at Huynh Thuc Khang Secondary School, Tam Hoa commune on April 21.
Participating in the contest were 60 students from 3 secondary schools in coastal communes of Nui Thanh district including: Huynh Thuc Khang Secondary School (Tam Hoa commune), Phan Ba Phien Secondary School (Tam Tien commune), Tran Quy Cap Secondary School (Tam Hai commune) competed together, answering questions given by the organizing committee.

The contest aimed to enrich teachers and students’ knowledge about national sea and islands; the Party and State’s documents related to national sovereignty over sea and islands and traditions of the heroic Vietnam Coast Guard; patriotism of Quang Nam people.
The contest’s results would contribute to strengthening solidarity between troops and people, enhancing people’s patriotism and love for national sea and islands, and raising their responsibility for safeguarding national sovereignty over Vietnam’s waters.
Questions revolved around issues of Vietnam's seas and islands; 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS); 2012 Vietnam Law of the Sea; 2018 Law on Vietnam Coast Guard; Coast Guard traditions; local culture, history, traditions; drug prevention and combat, anti-school violence, to name a few.
During the contest, participants went through four parts included four parts, namely Sailing, Crossing the waves, Docking, and Planting sovereign markers. The contest ended successfully with one first, one second, one third, and one consolation prizes.
The organizing panel also presented one first, two second, three third, and 15 consolation prizes to students joining the “National sea and islands and coast guard troops” drawing contest.
At the program, Squadron 21 jointly organized a book display and introduction contest for 600 officials, teachers and students of schools in response to Vietnam Book Day April 21. The day is an important cultural event for book lovers and the whole social community, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture, rich in national identity, as well as an opportunity to honor the value of books, affirming the position, role and importance of books in social life.
On this occasion, the Squadron 21 granted 18 bicycles and 18 scholarships, each worth VND 1 million, to poor students from 3 secondary schools participating in the competition.
